Poverty - More Than Just Feelings

Poverty is a fight that has been going on for many decades around the world. Too many times now, poverty is a political sound bite for politicians to get their programs passed to tackle poverty, like here in the US. Many treatments have been implemented to fight poverty: welfare, food stamps, job placement programs by federal and state agencies. Which is the best one is the main question many should ask. What is the hidden factors in causing poverty not only here in the US, but around the world?… Continue

Bailout Bill Hidden Jewels............

Below is the various tax breaks and tax goodies stuffed into the Bailout Bill. Wouldn't it be nice if we just had a 10% flat tax on income or my personal favorite, national sales tax. These deductions and our current tax system is getting to become a nice little tool for politicians to capture votes. Enjoy! Sec. 101. Extension of alternative minimum tax relief for nonrefundable personal credits. Sec. 102. Extension of increased alternative minimum tax exemption amount. Sec. 103. Increase of AMT… Continue

Fannie & Freddie

Here are some interesting stats I have been compiling since Saturday when I learned of the government taking over Fannie and Freddie. I know this being done on the weekend serves the purpose of not many talking about it, but it will directly affect your pocket book. Shall we begin......................... -Housing prices will continue to fall and will not stop for awhile. In fact, inflation will cause much of these price drops. The more people have to spend on items of necessity, the more hous… Continue

The Obama Speech

Here is a libertarian/conservative view of Obama's speech tonight. Most may disagree, but I just want some answers on how these policies will be done. Disclaimer: I am voting for Bob Barr(L) and sorry for any misspellings. -Talked way too much in the beginning about Bush. He is not running against Bush, but McCain. -"Hurrican Katrina" comments blamed on Republicans. Once again, the governor that was in during Katrina was voted out of office (Democrat) and now Bobby Jindal(R) is the governor. It… Continue

Just reviewed some of your posts. Again, your grasp of politics and taxes are sound. Just found a site last night you might enjoy - www.capmag.com. Maybe you know of it already, but it has some very interesting free market viewpoints.

Hey Steve, you just posted on one of my blogs and I noticed you are hooked up with Amsoil. I looked at them a few years ago and wanted to talk about how that is working out.

Take care,

I usually do. In the case with your comments I've read, I've done quite a bit of research on Obama's policies and concur with you pretty much across the board. I'm also in the financial field and am fairly well-versed on much that is going on with our current economic situation which is why I found your Fannie and Freddie comments to be pretty good across the board as well. You definitely do your homework and that's good to see. If anything ticks me off about our current economic and political situations, it's listening to uninformed and uneducated stances. That's clearly not the case with you.

Again, thanks for your posts and I'm looking forward to reading more in the future.

Hey, Steve. I'm relatively new to the Smaller Indiana group, but I have been doing some reading here recently. Just wanted to let you know you have some very good, well thought-out and articulated points. I agree with your stances the vast majority of the time and look forward to future comments by you.

Steve, I wanted to tell you that my uncle Paul Ludwig played on a Rose Bowl Champion Buckeye team for Woody Hayes and my 75 year-old mother is the most rabid Buckeye fan in the world. She would love to come to one of the Buckeye Club football games here in Indy if that is a group you are a part.
