Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

Not safe for work! Writer Harlan Ellison rants about writers who work for cheap or free. We writers should not feel bad about asking for living wages when freelancing.

I would LOVE to get paid for what he talks about at 2:31.

I love this guy. He's my new favorite person. Thanks for bringing him to my attention.

It's always appropriate to ask for money. I present workshops, seminars, and give lectures. What is the purpose of my doing my livlihood for free? Sure, I want to be noticed, but those who will not pay will not make a commitment. Stand up and be counted!

Definitely entertaining footage. He's clearly been in the game long enough to know when it's appropriate to demand payment.
