Heya Brandon,
Kelli Schmith mentioned to me that you were a guy who is into Drupal. I've looked through your sites and I see WP but no Drupal. Is Kelli mistaken?
If you are into Drupal, check out the Indiana Drupal Users Group @ http://groups.drupal.org/indiana and contact me. I'd love to talk!

Hello Brandon! I'm working on starting a Web Design Guild in Indy. We'll do all kinds of stuff, or, just go out and have a drink and talk about how much IE sucks. For more information, visit http://justinharter.com/IWDG/ to learn more and how to sign up.

Brandon - After checking out your site I realize that we overlap in the online recruiting industry. I work with CareerXroads and know Joel Cheesman too. I do marketing communications for a variety of industries but I've been involved in the online recruiting niche since 95. I love Appendant's approach - how's it going with Arbita?

Brandon, both of your Appendant services look very interesting. When I get some time, I'll blog about them. Best of luck.

Brandon,

I'm looking for a Chief Technology Officer. I would love to hear how Appendant can help me do that. Leave me a direct way to reach you sometime.

Hi Brook, your business model question can not be quickly answered directly on here, but I can say that Coldfusion has been great for what we needed. We decided to go with ColdFusion mainly because we knew we could build prototypes that can be transition in to enterprise level software fairly quickly (*thanks to the low level java architecture).

Our use of ColdFusion was a business decision, and building to replace ColdFusion was a technical decision. Right now, we use a tiny little bit of ColdFusion to power our landing page product (recruital), and our core webservice tier, but in the long run we plan on replacing it with an alternative platform that is better suited for mass scale.

Additionally, I can say that I would not be comfortable building a platform that needed to support millions of users on ColdFusion, mainly because of its large resource requirements and the cost for Adobes version. (I have yet to test scalability of technologies like BlueDragon or the SmithProject - both of which are alternative CFML engines).

So, how did you come up with the biz model for Appendant? I like your site - how's ColdFusion working out for you?

Thanks Grant! I have always admired NING's business model, so it will be fun to watch if this can really take off --- social networking in a box, does anyone know if they are planning on integrating NING's sites with OpenSocial?
