Youth Works Indy Summer Employment & Education Program

In continuing my quest for partnership and leadership in our community, I hope that business owners who read this consider signing up for the program

We also have a Youth Works Indy Summer Employment & Education Program for 120 entering juniors and seniors here at Washington this summer. (Youth may come from other area schools, too.) This program PAYS the youth to attend GQE prep half the day and to work with a partnering organization in an intern-style position. Usher Funeral Home, Indy Parks (Rhodius Family Center as well as Gather on the Move camp for 25 disabled children), Haughville Library, Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center (for HUB Club & other youth programming at Washington), and the community centers are working through Diane Arnold. The half-day work experience runs June 15-July 17, and organizations may use two students each for 4 hours weekdays as an equivalent job-share, "full-time" position or just for half-days.

Each participating student gets $8.50/hour for working 4 hours each weekday while attending summer school the other 4 hours, totaling a maximum $2,200 potential stipend for both. Again, your organization does not contribute financially but rather provides the work experience and necessary supervision.

Hello everyone,

The George Washington Hub Club Leadership Program is summer program designed
to give students professional experience, personal development and
leadership skills. Students work in teams to create a business plan for the
Hub, an umbrella under which all after school programs at George Washington
Community, fall. The program is project-based with specific themes for each
week. Students are expected to be professional, independent workers.

This is a great opportunity for any George Washington High School student.
If you or someone you know is interested, please have them contact Tamika
