Making people and ideas findable

This family is missing two more people in the photo. The people they are missing are husbands and also fathers. The two men missing is Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. Two Border Patrol Agents sentenced to over 10 years because they were convicted in a trial by our own Justice Department that had many cover ups. Many have heard of this case in the media the last 3 years, now you can show your support in by visiting the following link.

Tell President Bush you want their sentences commuted so they can be with their families and appeal their convictions. This case has many problems with it and many questions to be answered. Lets start with getting these guys out of prison.

This wikipedia link is a brief summary of the case.

What is not defined in it is the fact that the jury was not allowed to hear that the drug smuggler had drugs on him that day. Also, they way the interviews were conducted after the shootings where Mexican consulants were allowed to ask our own Border Patrol agents about the incident. Major protocal was not followed. The jury in the case afterwards was shown the evidence on the drug smuggler and they said they would have never even found these guys guilty.

While one of the charges would have stuck with the covering up evidence into the investigation by picking up shell casings, it is very reckless to charge our own law enforcement with the federal gun crime which carried the mandatory sentence of 10 years. Law enforcement officials are authorized to carry firearms and their justification was they thought he was about to brandish a weapon.

The drug smuggler had a VISA after the case to cross into the country at his own will, which he then used to smuggle more drugs into the country. Johnny Sutton, the DA on the case, at first denied he had been picked up again but then records showed he was indeed arrested. He is now serving 9 years in prison.

Would they have been fired for their handling of the case if the one charge would have stuck, probably. Major discipline would have happened if not. This has now put a major shock into border agents. They are very fearful of reprecussions against them while drawing their weapons. I have a friend who is in the INS and this is not sitting well with the agents.

I'm not familiar with this case. So were they innocent of the charge? What's your reasoning?
