Making people and ideas findable

I recently withdrew from The Kidney Walk, but my heart is still with the cause and my team leader, and I do not want to be a hinderance to my team. Therefore, if anyone out there is interested in taking my place, my team name is The Master Blasters. The Team leader is Cathy Porter and she formed the team in honor of her brother Stanley Porter who died of Kidney disease. I told Cathy I would help her acquire additional team members and sponsors. She could really use your help. She can be reached by calling 317-295-1176. She could use additional members, as well. So, don't hesitate to call her. She is also accepting corporate sponsors.

Please find it in your heart to help Cathy. And, I thank you in advance for your support!

The Kidney Walk

Below is information on the Kidney Walk and towards the bottom are links for sponsorship and for more information. If you are interested in forming your own team, please call or email Stephanie Williams whose information is listed near the bottom. If you have any problem linking, send me a email and I will forward the information to you (or you can call Steph. I just like hearing from you!)

The Kidney Walk is a fun, inspiring, community fundraiser which calls attention to the prevention of kidney disease and the need for organ donation. It’s an opportunity for patients, family, friends, and corporations to come together and support the 26 million Americans with chronic kidney disease. More than 100 walks are held across the country.

Why Walk?

Kidney disease is a major health problem in the United States and around the world. Nearly 78,000 Americans are on the waiting list for a lifesaving kidney transplant and 355,000 rely on a dialysis machine to keep them alive. Recent studies indicate that the disease is on the rise and as many as 26 million Americans currently have chronic kidney disease. Because symptoms may not appear until the kidneys are actually failing, millions of people with kidney damage remain unaware and are not taking steps to protect the health of their kidneys.

The National Kidney Foundation (NKF), a major voluntary non-profit health organization, is dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation. Through its affiliates nationwide, the NKF conducts extensive public and professional education aimed at promoting early detection and improving patient care, provides vital patient and community services, including free screenings for those at risk, advocates for patients through legislative action and supports kidney research to identify new treatments.

The NKF relies on individual and corporate donations, business partnerships, foundation and government grants and revenue from special events like the Kidney Walk, to support its range of mission-based programs, services and initiatives.
