The Chain Continues: 7 Things about Doug Theis

In the spirit of an insidious chain letter, I got tagged by Rae Kridel, who requested I contribute to this 7 Things continuum. So here are seven things about me, Doug Theis:

1. I’m a tail end baby boomer – born to the son of a poor Minneapolis immigrant family and the daughter of a successful northwest Florida farmer. My parents met during World War II. I have one sister who's 13 years older than I am. That's old.

2. I’m an Indiana state high school soccer champ – I played for Heritage Christian in 1977, the third year of the Indiana state soccer tournament. We beat North Central and New Albany to win the title at Bush Stadium.

3. I sold Fuller Brush door-to-door on the north side of Indy for two summers in college. And I was good at it. It taught me to persist.

4. I’m an adrenaline junkie. Wait, you knew that. I feel God’s presence at the far end of my physical, mental and emotional limits.

5. I’m a huge Neil Young fan. I love the fact that he has never let go of the hippie dream.

6. I’ve somehow managed to stay married for 25 years to the perfect soul mate, who is astoundingly different from me in almost every area. Our two children are brilliant, willful, faithful and sarcastic, and I love all of them more than anything.

7. If you’re a Meyers-Briggs nut, I’m a classic ENTJ. If you’re a StrengthsFinder nut, I’m strong on Focus, Future, Command, Woo, and Significance. If you’re normal, you don’t care about any of this nonsense.

I like the "feeling God's presence." A similar line was in Chariots of Fire when the star said "When I run, I feel God's pleasure." That is an awesome place to be.
