I am entering a contest where the prize is a huge giveaway of over $6,000 worth of new HP equipment. There are 50 ways to enter this contest, but I am only entering it once. Mostly, because I believe in the way that this giveaway has been structured.
See, the
HP Magic Giveaway is giving 50 of the world’s top bloggers a chance to review this equipment and then give it away! One blog I follow (and fellow SI member) is
Moosh In Indy and she is one of the chosen ones who gets to award this prize. I realize that by posting this, I narrow my chances of winning- but that’s also part of the spirit of the prize. Whoever will use it best gets it- and that’s ok with me.
Long story short- you have to share some of the winnings with others in order to be in the running, according to Casey’s rules.
So-
of the comprehensive list of equipment to win, I would keep the HP TouchSmart, the HDX Notebook, the Photosmart Wireless printer and HP 564 Photo Value Pak and the Kung Fu Panda Blu-ray.
I want to give all of the other equipment to a children’s hospital here in Indianapolis. These kids will be spending their holidays in the hospital- hopefully with their families, some with split families who can’t afford to all be there at once. I can only imagine how the budget crunch hits even harder when you have mountains of medical bills to pay and are facing one of the most challenging points in your life with your child.
With these prizes- the kids can create, make masterpieces to share with the world, maybe blog or vlog their journeys, keep in touch with family and friends, learn, research, inform others about their disease or condition, and so much more. My challenge to those who use the donated equipment is to do 1 thing with those computers or software that will make the world a better place. It might be as simple as making a greeting card for the kid in the room next door, or it might be creating the next best thing for the whole world to enjoy.
The Magic Giveaway will live on, and I’d like to arm the budding magicians.
