Just Received!!!
Dear Friends:
I learned via our local news that Gov. Daniels is REFUSING to accept the President's Unemployment portion of the Stimulus. According to the governor, extending unemployment benefits would mean overhauling the system. When President Obama was asked this question by a reporter, (not in regards to Indiana) his response was that Governors could reverse the system once the economy picks up. I find this appalling and very hypocritical. I know many people who are unemployed and have been seeking employment but have been unable to secure it. Not extending their benefits would mean we will have many qualified people who are otherwise hard working, having NO Income! The Federal Government is offering a means and our Governor (who has likely never had to receive such benefits) has chosen to close that door. Please call the Governors office to voice your displeasure. Ask for: Christian Cain (the staff person who takes these calls) at 317-232-4567. The information below is very important as well. It deals with passing the President's budget without last minute amendments. Please respond accordingly.. Thank you so much. Together, we can make a difference. Feel free to pass this information on.

Can you call Rep. Carson right now and ask him to pass Obama's budget without any last-minute amendments that weaken it?

Dear MoveOn member,
In the next 48 hours, both the House and Senate are set to take a crucial vote on President Obama's budget. It's a boldly progressive plan that closes tax loopholes for oil companies and banks while cutting taxes for 95% of working Americans.
In Indiana, that means 2.4 million families will get tax cuts if the budget passes.1 (I know it's April Fools' Day, but that number's no joke—2.4 million families!)
And closing those loopholes will save Indiana taxpayers $500 million that would otherwise go into the oil companies' pockets—money that can be used on investments in health care and energy.2
Republicans will probably oppose the budget en masse, so we need every last Democrat—like Rep. Carson—to stand tall and make sure it passes. Even Democrats who've pledged support need to hear that this is a top priority—and that voters want them to oppose any and all efforts to water it down.
Can you call Rep. Carson right now and ask him to pass Obama's budget without any last-minute amendments that weaken it?

Want to support our work? We're entirely funded by our 5 million members—no corporate contributions, no big checks from CEOs. And our tiny staff ensures that small contributions go a long way. Chip in here.
My interest in this is that I have family and know people on unemployment who could use a boost. And, from what I understand our sytem is out of money, anyway. Heck we already owe people from the money the president has borrowed. Why not put it to good use in the hand of those who really need it.
What are your feelings on this subject?
