Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

Recently I met Karen Wolfley and Margaret Medley here at Smaller Indiana. They are two great people!

We put our heads together and have come up with some things.

Here's how it went. Karen received an email from a networking group of hers inviting her to plan an event at Morty's Comedy Joint. She contacted me thinking that doing something at Morty's would be perfect for my group, Make me laugh - Show me the FUNNY!. I thought it was a great idea! So, Karen posted a notice that we could pick a date at Morty's and do an SI meetup for the funny folk.

To date, we have only had a few replies, but things have changed! Margaret has now allowed us to expand our horizons and make a PARTY out of it! Not only that, I put three more dates on the books for fundraisers, the next date being may 21st with and fundraiser for the Ben Davis Band.

I am starting an Band Uniform scholarship Fund to help students who want to be in the band, but can't meet all the financial responsibilities. Karen Wolfley is helping me to organize this event. Our main objective for having this event on May 21st is to help marching band members from this year who have not yet met their bill requirements. They won't get their grades and they won't be allowed to come back to the band until this bill is paid. These children LOVE their band and they need our help. They should not be penalized because of unfortunate financial circumstances. WE will then go on to help many other children in the coming months and in the future.

Please help us to get off the ground with flying colors!

Many of you have been asking me where you can meet me to turn in your unused cell phones for OP. Below I will present to you two opportunities to not only turn in your phones, but get 2 great comedy shows, some perks and an opportunity to support two great organizations. And, of course, some face time with a lot of great people!

So here goes:

On Saturday, May 9, members of Smaller Indiana will receive FREE admission to Morty's Comedy Joint for the 9:15 show featuring Carole Montgomery. If you bring your unused cell phone to donate to Operation "OpenUP!", you will receive a $5.00 discount on your tickets to the May 21st fundraiser. The discount offer for the May 21st event is good for that one night only, May 9. You will only gain FREE admittance to the May 9th event if your name is on a list I will provide for Margaret Medly at Morty's. I will pull your name from your RSVP's on the Events page.

So, sign up NOW for Saturday May 9th at Morty's Comedy Joint and don't forget your cell phones. They'll get you a discount. We'll see you there!

The join us again on Thursday. May 21, 2009!
And then COME ON OUT TO MORTY'S for the official fundraiser and cel...

Everyone who brings a cell phone WITH CHARGER to drop off for Operation "OpenUP!" will receive a raffle ticket for each set you bring. The more phones you bring, the more you increase your chances to win.

You can win - Laugh Pack (up to 4 admissions and a free appetizer/dessert) to be raffled off at the event donated by Morty's Comedy Joint.
