Exactly the kind of show I would expect to see at the Comedy Sportz, which is one of my favorite venues for comedy. Patrick Coan and Matt Kramer go through a series of short funny skits. You can tell these two young men had a blast in school and have always been the laugh at the party.
Between laughs I thought that I should let my son and his friends know that they should come downtown and see these two. It is definitely college humor and if you just want short mindless fun this is the venue an…

The Adventures of Les Kurkendaal. Les takes us through his time as a Jenny Craig Counselor and his battle with his weight. He spent time telling us about how he got the job, became a floater counselor from one Jenny Craig Center after another where he met a lot of women who were fighting their own battles with weight loss. Some of those stories were funny and some not so funny.
It was interesting to hear less talk about his own battle with a little humor and some honesty. By the time the skit w…

Dancing with the Stars is a very very popular program. The dancers spend a great deal of time training their dance partners. When one goes left the other goes right, there are dips and turns, stops and starts and all of it with the rhythm of the music in the background.
How does all of this relate to referrals, it is the same strategy. If you are going to get valuable referrals from your referral partners it requires that you train them and train them correctly.
Back to the dancers, one is the…

Over the years I have developed a pretty deep network and one of the things that I spend a lot of time doing is up dating my database. In the process of doing that this week I noticed that my strongest referral relationships are with guys. So I began to think about that, why are there more males in my strong contact network instead of women and here are some of the things that I came up with.
When I sit down with a guy to build a referral relationship the conversation tends to be straight forwa…

As the Franchise Owner for BNI Central and Southern Indiana I often listen to people who take a great deal of time telling me about everything they think I am doing wrong and most often they do not offer a solution. So I really appreciate it when I get a note or a call from someone thanking me or giving me a pat on the back.
Pat Coyle has a community here that is more that 3 times the size of my Franchise and I know he gets a lot of complaints from people who want to tell him everything that is…

I am always interested in learning how people generate referrals for their business. So, when I am networking I will ask the people I meet the following questions; How much of your business is by referral and the response is often 50% or more. That always leads me to my next question, do you have a tracking system or is that a good guess? It is usually just a guess.
For most networkers, referrals are completely random and go something like this:
To Read More go to…

Excerpted from an email I received on my Linkedin account…………
I have 1,500 connections in my networks first tier. My next milestone is 10,000 connections. One of you asked if I know all my connections in my first tier. I know a lot of them but not all of them. Last Friday I met a man from the UK who now has 10,000 people in his first tier and 250,000 in the 2nd and 3rd. He knows most people in his 1st tier due to the fact, that he travels the world and visits local networking meetings.…

Have you ever ask a referral partner to introduce you to a contact they have only to be put off or not introduced at all? Did you wonder why? You might be surprised to know, that your referral partner did not have the same level credibility as the level referral you were asking for.
I once had a referral partner who boasted a very large database, we decided to sit down and do a little identifying out of each other’s databases. He had great contacts in his database but when I began to rate the l…

Everyone knows the economy is bad and getting worse. This year, 2009, is going to be rough, many businesses are going to fail while others will launch and grow.
Marketing budgets are being cut, staff is being cut, and sales goals are being raised and you have to do more with less. However, this is NOT the time to cut the Training Budget or the Membership Budget.
Training - A successful sales team or business owner stays involved with continuous training, keeping their prospecting, and s…

Jim Rohn, self-made millionaire and successful author, said "You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with". Brian Tracy once said that: "you cannot scratch with the turkeys and fly with eagles"; you cannot relate with mediocre, uninspired and unfocused people and expect yourself to be different from them.
You need to surround yourself with people who empower you, compliment your areas of expertise, and fill in the gaps you are missing. Those who can help you step outside…

How many times have you met someone and you knew right away you did not like them? Or on the other hand you met someone and right away you really liked them. What is it that makes one person likable while the other unlikable?
People want to do business with people they know, like and trust. Like is very important factor in building relationships. When was the last time that you referred one of your best customers to someone you did not like? How many times have you chosen to do business with so…

A male worker at a New York Wal-Mart was killed Friday when anxious shoppers trampled him in their rush for Black Friday bargains, witnesses say.
Witnesses to the early morning incident in Valley Stream, N.Y., said the unidentified worker had been attempting to hold back a wave of customers after the store opened, only to be knocked down and trampled underfoot, the New York Daily News said.
"He was bum-rushed by 200 people," Jimmy Overby, a co-worker of the man's, said. "They took the doors…

It's an old saying and I can see how the US economy is tied to the Automakers. But I do not believe we should bail them out of trouble again. The auto industry has painted themselves in a box, they made big money on SUV's instead of retooling and finding better ways to do things. Now they are crying. I believe they should be allowed to file bankrupt, get rid of half of their dealerships, (why do we need so many), merge together and reorganize.
I also believe the AUL has out lived their usefulne…

How many times have you loaned something to someone only to have them return it damaged? How do you feel? Angry, disappointed and yes hurt, after all it was your item and you trusted the person that you loaned the item to.
We loan our credibility to others regularly when we make a connection for others or pass a referral to them. Each time we make a connection or a referral we are allowing others to borrow our credibility. Unfortunately many times that credibility is brought back, nicked and sc…
