Smaller Indiana Networking Success Story

I consider myself to be pretty darned proficient at networking. I find it easy to talk to people I don't know, love attending events and making connections. Thanks to Smaller Indiana I've been able to boost that effectiveness to a whole new level. Last night the Women & Hi Tech Discussion Group meeting was hosted by the DocTrain Life Sciences conference. This wonderful opportunity came about because… Continue

"Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz"

Last night’s performance of “Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz” was an amazing experience. The thunderous applause and deafening cheers from the packed house at the Hilbert Circle Theatre leads me to believe that I wasn’t the only one who thought so! The performance incorporated spoken… Continue

Looking Forward to IndyFringe 2008!

Last night I attended a fundraiser for the upcoming IndyFringe festival at the American Cabaret Theater. What a fabulous evening! Pauline Moffat, the Executive Director for IndyFringe, certainly knows how to throw a party. The admission price of $25 included a yummy sampling of tapas from Barcelona as well as a terrific show. For those of you unfamiliar with IndyFringe, it’s a10 day celebration of alternative theater, performance arts – and so much… Continue

LinkedIn Networking Success Story

Lately I’ve become something of a zealot on the topic of “virtual networking”. This was the topic I chose for the April Women & Hi Tech discussion group. I thought I’d do a bit of research, see what tools were out there, write some reviews, and then move on to the next topic. Along the way I became a convert (addict?) and things I never knew existed suddenly became part of my daily life!… Continue

Smoosier Bloggers Unite!

As you could probably tell from the all the posts following BlogIN, the event was a huge success. I know it was a fabulous experience for me. I learned a lot, made some great connections, and as I left I was thinking I couldn't wait for the next one. Then it dawned on me, why wait? Why not create a blogging group here to bring together our local blogging community? So, that's what I did. There is now a new group called the Bloggers Forum. My hope is that the group will attract our blogging comm… Continue

Today is World Comment Day

I found out on Twitter that today is World Comment Day. Today everyone is supposed to comment on at least three blogs. Well, I did it with 2 hours to spare! I have to admit that this was something new for me. On thinking about it, I don't think I'm alone in this. I often wish more people would leave comments on my blogs. But how can I expect others to do something I don't do myself? So I'm making a commitment. When I read someone's blog, from now on I'll leave a comment. Even if it's just to sa… Continue

Inspired by BlogIN

Yesterday I had the good fortune to attend the Smaller Indiana BlogIN. I've been debating about whether it would make sense to have a separate blog on Smaller Indiana. I have another blog that I write for Women & Hi Tech and wondered what would be the benefit of putting the time into writing another. Obviously, I decided that it did make sense to have a Smaller Indiana blog. The Women & Hi Tech blog is focused on a specific topic each month. Because of this I sometimes feel a bit constr… Continue
