Understanding the Abundance Mentality
Our benign habits often aren’t as benign as they seem. For instance, many people keep too much money in their checking account in order to manufacture some financial tranquility. But keeping too much money in your checking account is very dangerous for a number of reasons. Of course there are the obvious reasons such as low yielding accounts, but it is the less obvious reason that can ruin a perfectly good financial situation.
Let me explain using my favor…

Today is the day that most people dread. It's the day that you are going to stare all of your debt square in the face. If you are half-way normal, then you probably try to suppress your thoughts when they linger towards your debt. Ignoring your debt can be a good technique in some instances, but not during 60 Days to Change. Ignorance is a good practice once that you have a plan in place. But ignorance without a plan is irresponsible. You can ignore your debt throughout the week once you have a…

Is it possible to repair your credit? Ummmm, kinda. How's that for a definitive answer? Okay, I will get a little more specific. No, you can't repair your credit the way you think. But you can always try to improve your score. I will show you what I mean.
Let's say that you forget to pay your credit card bill (take the term "forget" however you like). This is obviously a ding on your credit once the account gets past 30 days. It is not possible to "fix" or "repair" this transgression. It can't…

It's Day 8 of 60 Days to Change, and it's time to get down to the nitty gritty (I have no idea what constitutes something being nitty and/or gritty). It's debt week. If you have debt, then we will help you put together a plan on how to eliminate it while forming lasting money habits.
The first step is to pull your credit report. This costs you nothing, and more importantly it won't negatively impact your credit. Go to
Annual Credit Report and pull…

My wife and I recently had our first child. She is a beautiful little girl named, Olive. I could go on for pages about how much I care for little Olive, but what is important for you to know is how much others have cared for us. Generosity can cure many ills. And when you are tired and overwhelmed, people’s generosity keeps you sane. Friends have made us meals, lent us clothes, and even ran our errands. This has made us feel very loved, and actually distorted our reality. Our reality is that we…

Recently when filming a segment for 60 Days to Change, something became abundantly clear. We, as trusting Americans (or something like that), take financial advice from people we shouldn’t. We tend to take advice from anyone with a cash register and a credit card application. If you step back and think about it for a second, why would you let a teenager working a checkout lane talk you into opening a credit card? Yet, it happens every single day. Opening a store credit card rarely makes sense. M…

Billions and billions of dollars. Our national currency has turned into Monopoly Money. It is hard to imagine that literally a trillion dollars has been spoken for so far. It’s hard to keep track of how much money a trillion dollars really is. If you are keeping score at home it contains 12 zeros. I feel that I’m starting to lose sight of the value of a dollar. The government is throwing money around left and right. If someone told me that there was a new stimulus program that only cost $25 mill…
