INpact seeks to have
impact on small medical start-ups in INdiana.
Not a gimmick, this relatively new network pools the talents of several local companies which service some aspect of the product development cycle.
Courting the bio science sphere is not brand spanking new - the…

As a service to our community,
Operation "OpenUP!" is registered with the Department of Workforce Development to receive a loan of 4 computers for 1 year.
The primary purpose for these computers is to allow members of our community more flexibility in filing their unemployment claims, filing weekly vouchers and allowing access to any other services that WorkOne might offer. As I have recently signed up for the
MindLeaders program, I see th…

My dad recently sent me this joke and it struck a funny chord with me. Those who know my Wisconsin roots and technology background will appreciate the humor as well. Read on to enjoy the lighter side of technology.
After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, New York scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago.
Not to be outdone by the New Yorkers, in the weeks that fo…

YouTube is a terrific service. It has transformed media throughout the world. But, like many of today's social media, business is still looking for effective ways to leverage it and drive profitability. In the meantime, ambitious, well meaning, souls can easily fall prey to simple pitfalls that threaten to short circuit their forward thinking efforts. I saw one such example recently.
I get lots of email, and much would be considered 'bulk' (a nice word for spam from friends - you know the endle…

Excerpted from an email I received on my Linkedin account…………
I have 1,500 connections in my networks first tier. My next milestone is 10,000 connections. One of you asked if I know all my connections in my first tier. I know a lot of them but not all of them. Last Friday I met a man from the UK who now has 10,000 people in his first tier and 250,000 in the 2nd and 3rd. He knows most people in his 1st tier due to the fact, that he travels the world and visits local networking meetings.…

Here is why Twitter is hot: it has a 4% CTR (click through rate) for just about any link you post, on just about any profile you have. How good is 4%? A good ad on Google gets 1.5-2.5%.
Facebook gets .03-.11%. I did
a little experiment with four different profiles, making four different kinds of posts:

Live blogging here at the Community Health discussion on healthcare provisions.... I was pointed into group 4 that engaged the 3 following questions.
QUESTION 1- What do you perceive as the biggest problem in the health system?
The group discussion on this question included the reality that we now ration our care, based on whether you have insurance or not. There are limited resources right now and how do we restructure to truly meet the majority of the needs in our country?
How do we c…

Live blogging here at the Community Health discussion on healthcare provisions....
Two shocking statistics that William E. Corley, President and CEO, Community Health Network, shared:
78% of the total cost of national expenditures are spent on chronic health issues like diabetes.
Medicaid only pays hospitals 30 cents on every dollar of the hospitals costs to Medicaid patients. Therefore, because physicians are paid less on the Medicaid patients, they are forced to increase the fees and…

So the kids and I went to check out Eagle Creek Reservoir Beach on Sunday afternoon.
I'm very proud of my oldest daughter. She has finally learned to swim (after this summer of swimming lessons). But she's very particular about her nose. She has to have nose plugs on or she can't go underwater. So be it. Nose plugs it is. No matter how silly she looks.
After being in the water for an hour or so, I decided to start pitching the kids in the air. They love it and it's some exercise for me. They s…

Here's my two cents about
Inc. Mag. And don't get me wrong - I love the mag - but they are always a bit behind the times when it comes to new media and technology. I really miss Business 2.0 - I can't believe they shut it down and replaced my 2.0 with Fortune - what a waste.
So with the article, "
Tapping The Community Pool" in the latest issue, they…

Sure,
social networks are powerful, paradigm-shifting technologies that are changing the way software and services are being developed. They're great tools for networking, finding jobs, locating information, and congregating together online (and in person) with others who share the same interests as we do. I've started my own
global network of content professionals and it's proved to be ext…
