Terry East Where is Indianapolis headed?

With a mayoral election for Indy looming near... what key issues will dominate the conversation and determine the next mayor. For me, I wonder where the city is headed. I find the Indy metroplex to be a resource rich and intellectually stimulating place to live. But, where will we be in 5 years? 10 years? * What will the city physically look like? * How will the population grow? * What type of commercial industries and business do we want to attract? * How can the government social services and… Continue

Greg Mayo I am Running for Congress in 2012!

That's it! I am so fed up with the pin heads in Washington I have no option but to run for Congress in 2012. I would go in 2010 but I think it will take that long to mount a campaign. What I think many of us want is a representative that tells the truth, knows what it means to be a regular citizen and knows how to use common sense and compromise to get things done. Don't see many like that on The Hill. So my platform will be simple... First I will impose a term limit on myself. Three terms (six… Continue

Chad Richards Is Social Media The New Election Bellwether?

According to Wikipedia, a bellwether is any entity in a given arena that serves to create or influence trends or to presage future happenings. In the United States, Missouri is often referred to as a bellwether because it has produced the same national outcome in every presidential election since 1904 - except in 1956 and our most recent 2008 election. But what about social media? Could Myspace, Facebook or Twitter be the new election bellwethers? Each of these sites displayed more supp… Continue

Andrew Ball What's Up with McCain's Concession Speech

Is it just me or did McCain sound racist in his concession speech? It sure seemed to me that he over focused on Obama's race. What the h%^* does a candidate's race have to do with anything? Continue

Mike Tarak A Day In American History....The 2008 Election

2h 25m....That's how long it took me to walk into the church , cast my vote and exit today. You are damn right I took my sticker! Saw a few familiar faces....a few people I recognized from my neighborhood...lot's of mom's toting youngsters...and a guy in scrubs who told me IU hospital gives them 3h to vote...he had taken a vacation day to honor his civic duty. I didn't really complain about the time it took. I actually thought about how many times in my life I wasted at least 2h30m on somethin… Continue

Theresia Whitfield Election Day Turnout... Oh, The Lines!

If I hadn't seen it with my very own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it. The line went on for what seemed like forever. The people in the front of the lines kept looking back to watch it grow and grow until they could see it snake outside the door, into the parking lot. Eventually, the people in the middle of the lines started doing the same. Each person who approached the line cried the same sentiment, "Oh, my goodness. I can't believe I will have to wait this long!" But that wasn't the only li… Continue

Janneane Blomenberg Change? A Facebook litmus test

Facebook Fans are in apparent uproar over the new user interface, with petitions galore to revert back to the old interface - 5,000,000 against the new version of Facebook. They don't like the change. Change. That magic word that rings in our ears thanks to Obama. I find it amusing / alarming that our youthful population who can't handle a UX change on their social network app, most likely clamor to Obama, earnest for cha… Continue

Mike Magan The Presidential Campaign Creator

Uncomfortable with the "Obamessiah"? Think John McCain is more of the same? It's time to put your money where your mouth is, because you too can run for president.

I guess all the Web 2.0 gurus DO know what they are talking about. I have begun to implement my own grassroots strategy… Continue

Stephen James If this is not a demographically skewed primary, I don't know what is

I woke up this morning to this map at CNN's website:

Lake, St. Joseph, Elkart, Allen, Tippecanoe, Hamilton, Boone, Hamilton, Marion, and Monroe counties were won by Obama and the rest were won by Clinton. Not much of a surprise. Also, does anyone have any "OperationContinue

Jeb Banner The Indiana Primary or Thoughts On Business Theory or Why I'm Voting For Obama

"You’ve got to run this government, you can’t leave it to others." -Hillary Clinton "I’m not an operating officer. Some in this debate around experience seem to think the job of the president is to go in and run some bureaucracy. Well, that’s not my job. My job is to set a vision of 'here's where the bureaucracy needs to go.'" -Barak Obama Quotes from CNN January 16th 2008 link With the Indi… Continue

Joh Padgett Blogging the Indiana Primary Election From the Inside

Political blogging as a full time job is turning out to be a rather interesting experience for me. I may have neglected to mention this here prior to now, but a few weeks ago I accepted a position with the Dr. Woody Myers campaign as their Internet Coordinator for the campaign. I am actually no stranger to such work, I was briefly the Communications Director for Barry WelshContinue
