Halloween Fire Pit at 1853 Hunters Ridge Lane

I am a sucker for a roaring outdoor fire. We have a fire pit in our backyard, and last night my husband and I decided to burn up some of the limbs from a spruce tree that had died during last year's fungus infection/drought. We started just at dusk with the spruce limbs pointing toward the sky. No, we weren't creating a mini Burning Man, but the effect that tall fire gave against the falling night was pretty spectacular.

As we sat and watched the flames get increasingly more…

Business Networking Can Take Place Anywhere

I remember as a new business owner some three years ago, I spent much of my time attending business networking events, such as Rainmakers, and since then I have expanded my networking to include many more arenas than what we would typically think of as business networking.

About a month or so ago, I volunteered to work at my daughter’s school for a Family Fun Day event. I was in charge of the popcorn, which meant I spent about four hours just popping popcorn and putting them into bags…

Dialing Up The Courage To Stand In Line: What The IPhone 4S Means To Folks Without Broadband

Against my better judgement I didn't pre-order the new IPhone 4S when I had the opportunity.  I thought that I could avoid standing in seemingly endless lines, braving the elements and losing sleep for latest iteration of "The Best Cell Phone Ever Made."  Surely there would be plenty of IPhones on launch day. Surely a company as successful as Apple would anticipate the needs of the market and have a unit for everyone who wanted one,…

Attitude is Everything

No serious it is. I mean think about it, one characteristic about people that are successful that stands out more than anything is their general attitude towards life. . . and you most always end at their attitude.

In short, we all show up either as a victim or a victor. As a taker or a producer. I think one of the hardest things to do is decide to control your own mind yet it is the most important decision we make every day. To respond rather than react. To prosper rather then plod.…

Last month, in the first part of this article, I talked about the medical problems that can cause cats to urinate outside of the litter box. If your veterinarian has already eliminated a medical cause as the problem, what is left is behavioral. Dealing with…

We All Grow to the Size of Our Environment

I just watched a really great video by Rochelle Forrest of Create Health Naturally where she was discussing the phenomenon of a fish that only grows to the size of their environment, so no matter the size of the tank, he will either continue to grow or stop. In this short but very thought-provoking video, she makes you think about who do you have hanging out in your pond, are they challenging you to be the amazing person you are meant to be, and are you ready to jump into a bigger…

How to sell a low-priced property

Can anyone tell me how to go about selling a property in Greenfield that is not in any condition to live in?  This property is in very bad shape, most likely the house will need to be torn down and sold mostly for the property.  Could anyone recommend the proper business or person to contact?  Thanks!

Faces of Roundpeg

Almost ten years ago, I made a decision to leave Conseco and not look for another “job”.  I had always thought about owning my own business and it seemed like the perfect time.

Today, Roundpeg is exactly what I hoped it would be.  It is a fun place to hang out, where smart creative people do great work. I smile every time I walk in the door.

We are a starting point for small…

I CAN HANDLE DA TRUTH

Oh my goodness, I am in shock right now, just left my endocrinologist’s office.   I had to race to my car and compose my blog RIGHT NOW!

I know I know I promised funny MD stories.  However, right now I have just one MD story worth telling!

Let me preface by giving you an account of the relationship I have/had with my endocrinologist:

1. First date

2. Swept me off my feet with hope for a bright future

3.…

After 10 weeks Operation School Bell® is humming along like a well oiled machine

So many organizations get so much press for their one day or one time giving event that it seems like Assistance League® of Indianapolis is almost forgotten.  As volunteer members we are so devoted to our mission of providing for local children and also our other programs, that we are often not  promoting the organization's name (Assistance League of Indianapolis) to the public at large.

Our volunteers are about 240 members and it takes 15 volunteers per day to…

Did you know you are a Hero?

I hope this e-mail finds you abundant.  Did you know that you are a hero? If you face your fears and do things even when you are in fear of the result, outcome or process, you have courage.  The trick about having even a little courage is it is like a muscle and when you flex it consistently it grows. In growing, you get greater and greater capacity to be courageous… Sooner or later someone sees you flexing that courage and deems you a hero.  When they do, you start to believe it and the…

Thank Your Critics

In my job, I have the privilege of working with some of the most courageous people in business…entrepreneurs. Or as I like to call them builders, courageous for some very basic reasons. They try to do things people say are impossible, or are bad ideas, or just plain something people will not accept. I mean who would have thought that we would connect with all our friends on the web or drink gourmet $5 cups of coffee every day.

I would put these people in the area of critics. The…
