My First Feast Of The Hunter's Moon
I have attended the Feast of the Hunters' Moon, once, as a visitor. It's an annual historical festival in Lafayette, IN, and it attracts over 60,000 visitors and nearly 2,000 performers, re-enactors, and historians. I've heard it called "Burning Man" for bear skinners. As a visitor, I found it huge, overwhelming, and very difficult to see everything. It sits on over 150 acres and is considered one of the best and largest events of it's kind in North America. And when it rains, it's very…

AC Trash Hauling...More Than Meets the eye
Exactly what is trash? Our motto, "We haul; ALMOST everything" should be a good indication that trash can be almost everything or anything. Over the past three years we have been asked to remove and haul away a few interesting items, at some unique and special times. The attached link is an old posting that…

One Man’s Quest for Improvisation: “Follow Me”
Working in the media, I tend to meet and interview a lot of high-talent people. I have always had a special admiration for people who use that talent to be creative, entertain people and make them laugh. I’ve always hoped to be one of those people, doing improv comedy with the Ship of Fools in West Lafayette and performing parody music for years.
It was a natural fit for me to check out ComedySportz when I moved back…

Interesting Stats on Facebook and Consumer Behavior
I love Facebook – sometimes I wish I could spend more time on it as I get to catch up with some fabulous friends, read some great articles, and watch some incredible videos. I gotta say, my friends on Facebook put some great stuff out there that could keep me occupied all day long if my schedule would let me do that! Now that is all on the personal level of Facebook, but everyone knows that I am my company’s brand – what you see is what you get – and I am perfectly okay with that.
For…

WHOA!! Where Did My Old Facebook Go??? (The Top 11 Things That Changed)
Did you wake up Wednesday morning to find a new Facebook? Many were looking at their home feed this morning as most of us do without a cup of coffee or anything. Did you shudder, did you gasp, did you freak out? I pictured Jon Stewart screaming NOOOOOOO as he looks up at a camera on the ceiling of the studio! LOL Most of you felt like this image describes. …

The children make you so glad to be a member
Having completed two full days so far (Each member is asked to work 6 days between mid August to mid November) volunteering for Assistance League® of Indianapolis during Operation School Bell® it is the children that make our day as one leaves with tired feet from the terrazzo floors and restocking of items by size and color for the next day of students. Last Friday was a typical day of 60 students and 15 volunteers to help make their shopping trip memorable.

Dracula at IRT
Good evening! Stay or go, but leave something behind of what you are.-Dracula by Bram Stoker, 1897
The problem writing this blog is that I'm a fan of Dracula, the novel, and of many of the films that have been made from it. It's hard to review or critique a production of a play when you've read the source material several times. You have expectations of certain things being emphasized, of emotions from when you first read the book. And being a magician, I know a bit about how…

Would people pay you to know what you know?
Yesterday, I met Ari Weinzweig with the famed Zingerman’s Deli. They have built a relative food empire that has culminated into not only food tours, guides to good eating and a book called “Building a Great Business.” It has been touted reputably as one of the best restaurant brands and independent concepts in the country.
Here is what I see the company has realized. They have recognized the value in how much great…

The Real Reason there aren’t more Entrepreneurs
What is the real reason more people don’t take on the very difficult challenge of being an entrepreneur? One four letter f-word called fear.
Fear of failure, fear of risk, and most of all, one that I really believe alot of us don’t admit…the fear of being alone. The fear of being alone in our new venture with no one to share the wins and losses with keeps most of us out of the game of owning our own business. Think about why so many…

For those who don't think they like Shakespeare, try Eclecticpond Theatre Co.
I hate to read Shakespeare, let alone study it from a book. Will the Shake wrote the plays as PLAYS for the stage. So, if you think The Bard's Boring, methinks you should go to the Irvington Lodge and see Eclecticpond Theatre Company's production of Romeo and Juliet.
Done on a thread bare set of 2 ladders, a platform that doubles for a bed and funeral pyre, and with actors that play multiple parts, it starts with the company sitting in the seats with you. Romeo at…

A Modern Home Search
When most people begin their search for a new home, they generally have a pretty decent idea of what they’re looking for. They know how much space they need in order to be comfortable. They know how many bedrooms and bathrooms they want. They know the parts of town they prefer. And most of…

What A Trip Down the River Taught Me About Team Work
I got to check something off my bucket list over Labor Day week-end – my hubby and I went white water rafting in West Virginia! To answer two questions right off the bat – yes, it was a blast and yes, I would do it again! Now even though the water level was pretty low as we have not had much rain around here or apparently in West Virginia, we had our share of some nice rapids and I did get fall out, which is the reason for this blog.
I was the only one on our raft to fall out – and…
