One of my favorite submissions and one of the first one that you learn when you begin training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the Kimura armlock. It is one of the first submissions because of it’s simplicity however just because it is easy to…

Recently, I have been reminded to really look at all sides before passing judgment or jumping on the bandwagon. I mean, come on, I know better. I learned as a fairly young person not to just take what one person or one story says and think it’s the whole truth. Plus, is there such thing as the whole truth because we cannot help but put our own judgment and perceptions into the mix. It’s just human nature.
Take for example two recent media stories – both emotionally charged and having…

Yes, I may be a "low-tech" guy but I do realize (at times) when one needs to upgrade. Now I'm certainly not claiming that I have fully entered the 21st century concerning my electronic gadgets... but at least I am taking baby-steps in that direction.
Though my QR code above is not an electronic gadget, it is…

Even in this fast-paced, acronym life we live in, we still judge people by their written word, and spell check doesn’t catch everything. Thinking about blogging or writing web copy? Some people will not subscribe to a blog or not give a website a second glance if there are grammatical errors. Here are four common errors that can detract from your credibility:
- Your vs. You’re – “your” is a possessive pronoun, as in “your book” or “your business.” “You’re is a contraction for “you…

Will cloud computing save your business money? Cloud computing may allow a company to fully exit from the IT management industry. By renting time, space, and software access from a “public cloud,” the individual business can manage and limit data expenses while continuing to provide their customers with the same expect quality service.

We would like to first thank everyone that came out for the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seminar on Friday, March 23rd, and made it a success. Carlson Gracie Jr. ran through a series of techniques, showing each one with explicit detail. There was no technique too advanced for anyone but the amount of detail in each one made it valuable for all levels of practitioners. He began showing some half guard sweeps and set ups, then moved on to a back attack series and then some closed guard…

The Franklin real estate market saw a 1.8-percent increase in the total number of homes listed for sale versus the previous month. But what’s most surprising about the February’s total of 168 listings is that it represents a significant 29.7-percent decrease versus where this market was 1 year ago. In comparison, there…

Improvement could be seen in many areas of the Danville real estate market in February of 2012. But this is not to say it was without its shortcomings. For example, total listings rose 1.8 percent. While this is not a terrible thing it does not help a market that is already struggling with an over-abundance of listings already. What’s more, compared to last February’s total of…

The other day I was driving towards downtown and passed a trailer park with the mother standing by the road with her two children as they waited for the school bus. It took me down memory lane as I grew up on and off in a trailer park, and even though I have some fond childhood memories, I have been blessed to give my children so much more in security and opportunities to become the amazing beings they are truly destined to be without as many roadblocks along the way.
Sometimes I just…

One positive development, at least as far as Avon sellers had to be concerned, was a 4.1-percent decrease in the total number of homes on the Avon real estate market. In comparison, there were 1.5 percent more homes for sale in Indianapolis during this same period. But the most recent…

Systems build business and are more predictable and reliable. In a networking environment, it’s very difficult to get people to do what you want them to do, and if you could, it would have to be with their own willingness to get it done. My suggestion is that you stick to a predictable system that works every time.
If interested, go to YouTube and search for the Ron Sukenick Toaster story. It’s a metaphor for how you can build relationship with the use of a system. You will…

This time last year, I had had enough of my calendar getting out of control. I finally put my foot down and said “no more!” Then as time went on, and I forgot that I had a strict calendar plan, and recently, I started letting other things slip into my calendar this month that I had to rearrange for…and both instances, it ended up being a bad decision.
Let’s just say one was someone who was sick and let me know about 30 minutes before our appointment, which I had already left and been…

Go after the relationship, not just the sale – This is the very reason why most people find networking so in-effective. They’re going after the sale. When looking to build your business, think relationship first.

The real and obvious down side to Peyton Manning going to Denver is if the Broncos let Tim Tebow go. And the awkward down side is if they keep him. Denver has fallen in love with the guy. In fact, it looks like the entire NFL fan base has fallen in love with him – in a Broncos uniform.

Your customers may not expect you to have your doors open 24 hours a day but they do expect your online doors to be open 24 hours a day. No matter your product or service, if your website, email servers, electronic library or information store is down – even in the middle of the night – they’re going to be frustrated, they’re going to lose some measure of faith and they may click right on over to your competitor. Today’s consumers are not patient. And,…
