Not Ok is the Sign of Being Ok

Not ok is the sign of being ok with yourself! I know that sounds weird, but it hit me today talking to a friend of mine over lunch. I realized how much this guy shared about "how un ok he was". He was and always has been at least as long as I knew him very "self examining". He was so conscious about how he was "showing" up as a leader, a parent, a husband, and as a businessperson. It made me be more conscious and "self examining" and yes deprecating toward how I was "showing" up. He didn't hide…See More

Scott Emmett commented on Tony Scelzo's blog post Attitude is Everything
"Well put, Tony. Attitudes are shaped (in my humble opinion) by what we take in and how we react to what is around us. If I read and look at garbage all day, I get a garbage attitude. If I react poorly to the people around me, I also get a garbage…"

Attitude is Everything

No serious it is. I mean think about it, one characteristic about people that are successful that stands out more than anything is their general attitude towards life. . . and you most always end at their attitude. In short, we all show up either as a victim or a victor. As a taker or a producer. I think one of the hardest things to do is decide to control your own mind yet it is the most important decision we make every day. To respond rather than react. To prosper rather then plod. To spiral…See More

Love Conquers All Even Mike Tyson

Early in Mike Tyson's incredible career he was the most dominant boxer in history. Many thought he was unstoppable. When Buster Douglas was slated to fight Mike Tyson, it was only supposed to be a warm up for the apparent "real" show down between Tyson and Holyfield. Buster had someone on his side—his mom. He was his mother’s pride and joy. She was telling everyone at the beauty shop that her baby was going to knock out Mike Tyson. Buster had to have been thinking his mom was crazy. He probably…See More

Early and Often

My job is pretty awesome.  I get to work with some of the most dynamic and incredible entrepreneurs.  They rarely have hardly anything in common except one thing.  They work early and they work often on themselves as well as their businesses.  They have invested consistently on themselves and their businesses early and often.  Their personal history usually is darted with early and frequent investments of education, experience, mistakes, recoveries and triumphs, failures and successes. They…See More

There is a Fine Line to Walk

There is a fine line in marketing between “edgy” and “offensive”. ‘Edgy’ has your target market all a buzz with positive word of mouth. ‘Offensive’ has the same people talking about how stupid or what a bad move something your company did or said was.

www.tonyscelzo.com

So, why do companies take this risk with their brand? Well, there is something inherent in ‘edge’ and ‘offensive’. That is it gets remembered. The first goal of any marketing message is ‘recall’. Can you occupy some of that, oh so valuable gray matter, between someone’s ears?

Marketers know that ‘recall’ is the first measure of success. There are many famous “studies” done on “jingles and slogans” that have lasted 10 and 20 years beyond the existence of the company or product.

I have always been a fan of the marketers willing to find language that so succinctly describes their value proposition into words that really get remembered. This is so hard and so valuable to companies for long-term growth and branding.

I commend guys like Chris Reed w Creed Improvements for his tag “We Take the Butt Crack Out of Home Improvement” or Jim Doering w/ Doering Consulting and his tag of “We Take the “SH out of IT”.”

These tags are edgy and unorthodox but cut through the market place like a knife through hot butter. They get remembered and they get hired.

What channel are you broadcasting?

The one that seems to live their life on stage or to be in the lights. They work so hard to make sure everybody is paying attention that they really don't think about what kind of attention they are generating. They seem to be the one who's life always seems to have some kind of tragedy or drama going on in it followed by tremendous luck and highs.

We all have these highs and lows. It is just some of us find it necessary to produce and broadcast our life like we are working on being…

Self-Esteem Drives Revenue

Did you know that you can grow your sales right now?  Maybe even double them with in 90 days, care to take the challenge. Here is how:

Build yourself esteem for the next 90 days. Go to work on building yourself up. Here are the things you need to do every day for the next 90 days:

  1. Use Brian Tracy’s mantra. I like myself. I love my work. I can do it, I can do it, 100 times a day.
  2. Make a list of things you are grateful for and read them everyday, periodically…

You are Bigger!

Let me tell you the most important thing you will hear today. Ready? You are bigger than you would care to admit. Seriously. You think your spouse, economy, boss, ex-spouse, ex-wife, job, employees, business partner or clients and customers are holding you down or making you feel small. But guess what?  You are bigger; you are bigger just by elevating your thinking to a new level, a higher level than your problems. When you realize you are bigger you will quickly realize the answers to these…

Tony, My business partners are pushing me to do more Spanish classes for various groups. They suggested that I should do some for particular groups in Rainmakers. Since I am interested in getting more people to experience how easy it is to learn another language. I would be glad to give a 20 to 30 minute demostration to a group of people (realtors, insurance agents, supervisors, restaurant managers, health professionals, hotel managers, etc.) What do you think my step should be.

Hey Tony! I've been in Rainmakers for about 4 months and I still haven't sat down with you. This is a meeting that will be of benefit for both of us. When would be a good time to chat?
