Tips for Starting An Editorial Calendar

We have all been there – staring at the blank computer screen, thinking to yourself that writer’s block has set in for good this time. One way to avoid this is to have an editorial calendar. It’s a way to map out your content over the next however long you need to.An editorial calendar is a productivity tool. You are really laying the framework you need to create timely, relevant content for your blog or newsletter. You will keep in mind and remember special events, holidays, and other…See More

Need to Add Some Time to Your Day? Then Check Out Robby Slaughter's Productivity Series.

I am blessed for many reasons – lovely family, happy marriage, successful business. Having my own business allows me to work within my parameters, but as many of us business owners know, we work for a crazy person, right? For the past two summers, I have taken some time to get step away from some of the business networking events and just take care of my family and my clients, with the understanding that I will use any extra time to get things in order – meaning get organized with my thoughts,…See More

CAN-SPAM Act Explained

There seems to be a lot of confusion about who you can or cannot send an email too, and it’s no wonder – always thought the name for the Act that legislates this was kinda funny – CAN-SPAM! Hmmm, sounds to me like it’s saying who can we spam? In reality, some do call it the You-Can-Spam Act as it is gives us the parameters to send emails to your database, but hopefully, you are giving great content, so no one will think of it as spam.First of all, CAN-SPAM is an acronym for Controlling the…See More

10 Simple Ways to Grow Your Email List

Everyone knows I am all about taking care of your current database. I mean, come on, my business is relationship marketing. But the truth be told, if you are not doing anything to grow your contacts, your database will slowly shrink, maybe up to 25% every year, due to your contacts moving from one company to another, switching from a Hotmail account to a Gmail account or they just opt out.So, we do need to keep that funnel filled with new contacts to stay in front of with our e-newsletter.  One…See More

Weeds - Stronger and More Determined Than the Rest

Sometime last year, my mom told my daughter to tell me there was no such things as weeds – she must have said something to Grandma about us killing weeds or something. Now I was quick to point out to both my daughter and my mom that weeds were like the bully in the classroom or on the school bus, you got to put them in their place or they just take over.Well, with this recent hot summer with no real rain in the forecast, we look outside on our parched lawn that feels pretty much like dried hay…See More

Sparks – the “TED” of Indy!

Wanted to take a moment and promote a new event happening at Rainmakers this Wednesday evening! Have you ever watched a TED. TED, which is an acronym for Technology, Entertainment, Design, is a nonprofit devoted to what they call “Ideas Worth Spreading.” It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing people together from those three worlds of T, E and D, and has become a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world’s most inspired thinkers and what they say is a…See More

Want to Move a Mountain?

I love my daily Tut messages I get, but honestly, things get busy, and I tend to glance over them and not give them much thought most days. For some reason, a recent one really hit home to me, and when I posted it on Facebook, a couple other people said it hit home with them as well. So, what was this reminder?“Want to move a mountain, Serina? Befriend it. Call me, The Universe”Simple, but deep. How many mountains are getting in…See More

Facebook: When You Get Something for Free, There Are Usually Strings Attached

Out of all the social media out there, Facebook is my favorite. I love reconnecting with friends I went to elementary and high school with, connecting with those I have met more recently, and getting to know them more personally through this medium. And I love the fact they allow me to do this for free! But free does come with some strings – they can change things up on us with not much warning or maybe no warning at all. We have seen changes come and go – did anyone else realized there is no…See More

Hi Serina,

I saw that you were on the Business Roundtable Network (BRN) discussion in Smaller Indiana. We have our biggest event in our short history (Jan. 2009 until now) coming up next week. If ever there was a time to get involved with BRN now would be the time. We provide the support and exchange of expertise needed in this economy. We need a core of people (50) who are truly committed to helping each other get through this economy and thrive.

It would be great to have you as a part of that.

Hope to see you next Thursday. See details below.

Thursday, April 30th

4:30 pm to 6:30 pm

At Conquest Racing Headquarters

Get additional information and register in advance by going to our website: www.brncommunity.com

We need you to register because food is being provided by oyster bar and grill – excellent!

We need numbers so we get the right amount of food!

So register now for this FREE event.

I hope to see you there.

Yes, we had a booth. Yes, you were very emotional. But, it's no big deal. It was an awesome award and something to be very proud about. It means that you are on the right track. I will be at tomorrows event. I would enjoy talking to you after the lunch. See you then!!!! When is this snow going to melt? Uggghhhhh!!!

I just saw you left a comment. I'm still getting familiar with this Smaller Indiana website. I plan on attending the Rainmaker event tomorrow. However, there is a slight possibility that I might not be there. If I can I would definately like to meet you after the Rainmakers event. Now I look at your picture more, didn't you win an award at the Rainmaker's event at Ritz Charles?

Sounds interesting. I agree it seems that we are targeting the same customers. Payroll is definately one of those tasks that should be outsourced so the business owener can concentrate on growing their business. In addition, companies can be fined at the end of the year if they don't they don't process payroll correctly. When this service is outsourced that liability becomes apart of our responsibility. Maybe we could get together soon for lunch or coffee and talk about possible referrals between our two companies.

Likewise!!! Thanks for the friend request. Timeplus Payroll is the fourth largest payroll provider in the United States and I'm currently working on growing the Indianapolis, IN service Center. My best referells are CPA, bookeepers, & commercial bankers. In addition, any business that has 1-250 employees is a potential customer. Tell me a little bit about your business and what you offer.
