"I am not from Idaho, althought I think it would be really cool to say, "I am from Idaho" but I think I recognize you from a TEI meeting on Monday. Interested in getting together to discuss TEI and your goals over coffee in near future?"

New Hair Dew - lost bet with my daughter

I bet my daughter AMY that if she earned straight A's at Loyola University of Chicago, she could dye my hair and I would keep it for 2 weeks any color she wanted. She earned straight A's and selected Pink and Green as the hair color. So if you see me in the next two weeks, you will see a wierd dew (dude).

Cheers, Scott P Cunningham

Scott, I appreciate the control you showed on the Star Wars reference. You know how it goes, if only I had a penny for everytime I heard "Luke...I am your father" I'd be rich. As for mountain biking, I am quite a big fan..what fun is life without wheels!?!?

Riding season is here! It's still road season, though- the trails are still soft and fragile.

DST is great. Got 30 in last night after work. ...25 before dark. Lights are gooood!

MIT Sloan school of Management came out with research stating that businesses that want fast, flexible and responsive Information Technology capabilities, otherwise stated as the ability to go from concept to implementation and successful execution quickly, and more importantly successfully, MUST have a core of discipline, structure, and well defined and proven processes implemented in the I.T. Department and staff.
Funny, if everybody knows what to do, how to act, what steps precede and follow one another. People can be successful. I might sound a bit sarcastic at this point, but, as the owner of an IT services company that has been proposing such a position, and implementing this approach for over four years, this is great external validation.

Problem, why I am up at night writing this. Entrepreneurs are typically very driven people, creative and full of energy... go go go.... just get it done!! How many times do I hear, Just get it done by "fill in the date". This reactive and chaotic atmosphere creates a wild west culture that delivers results that are unpredictable, un-scalable, and un-reliable. How can a company scale, grow, be nimble and responsive to new market opportunities, new product/service line opportunities, etc. when the foundation of the business is unstable, undisciplined and no-body has control?

how do we get business leaders, entrepreneurs to understand the value of process and methodology? The value of doing IT right the first time?
