Carolina Grill also has fabulous sweet potato fries!

For great breaded tenderloins, we go to the Carolina Grill in Stonegate (Zionsville). Not a "dive" - BUT they started in the CITGO gas station on 334, so they've got that going for them. We also go to Stookey's in Thorntown fairly often. My husba...

Shawn- there are 2 events posted and both show 11:30 start. Is this a change from the usual 1:00? (I tried that once without much success- although it could have been the bait shop issue...) Anyway, which one do you want us to post on and please c...

Went to Bub's during a Monon ride! The grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich is incredible! Probably one of the best I've had anywhere. Try it blackened, and with the peach mango salsa....what a kick!

I went to Fireside Brewhouse over the weekend. They have a burger called The Dude - 1/2 lb burger w/Velveeta cheese and their burger sauce, dipped in beer batter and deep fried with grilled jalapeno's and onions - not for the faint at heart - but ...

7 things about me you probably didn't want to know

Ok, so I got tagged by Erik Deckers, who probably only included me because we had coffee today and he didn't want to hurt my feelings. But he's The Man and he's not to be dissuaded so here I go:

1. I was born in Manteo, NC, a little town on the coast. My dad was in the Navy, stationed at Cape Hatteras, and when my mom went into labor, they couldn't find the base doctor so they had to take the FERRY to the mainland and went to the first clinic they could find. There's a famous black and white st… Continue

Giving back in the Spirit of the Season

It's no surprise, we're all strapped right now, some worse than others. If your business is down and you find yourself with extra time on your hands, consider an altruistic gift that may have an additional benefit. Around this time of year, the Indianapolis Business Journal starts listing the Holiday Wish List for non-profits in town, which started with today's issue on page 34. The list is small so far, but grows every issue till it covers several pages.

How about doing some good with that ext… Continue

It's a Mitzvah

In Judaism, it's called a Mitzvah. The word can have a number of different meanings, one of which is "commandment" and another is "covenant." But when someone says that it's a mitzvah, it means something like "righteous good deed." Sort of, there's not really a good translation. It's definitely not charity, because charity denotes that you're helping because it makes you feel like you've helped, or because you feel sorry for them. With a mitzvah, there's no pity involved. You do it because it's… Continue

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

It's always a good idea to know who you're doing business with. It's something I try to tout as an advantage to my clients, the personal service, the one-on-one, the fact that no one will be doing the work but me, so if you have questions or problems, the buck stops here. My business is growing like crazy so at some point, I'm either going to have to turn away clients or hire help, but I'll hold on to this as long as I can.… Continue

Disclaimer: I hate theatre.

Ok, so maybe that's a little strong, but I'm really not a fan. I've always been a "film" kind of girl. The artifice of plays, especially musicals, just leave me scratching my head. Why did that character just break out in song and why are the rest of the characters not locking her up for singing to a blank wall?

That said, I was invited, along with Steve Semester and Brett Healey, by fellow Smoosier Amy Stark to see "The Producers" at Beef & Boards and since it was my last chance to have an… Continue

Hi Rae -- I just noticed your group on hole in the wall eateries in Indy, and I noticed your name. I think I used to baby-sit for you, maybe 3-4 years ago or so? You have a son named Shia, right?

Hope you and your family are doing well.

Rae,
I was checking out the hole in the wall eating club and wondered if there were any requirements for the group. I don't want to be the outsider looking in. haha.
