Twitter lists for noobies

Today's guest post comes from my friend, Andy, over at The Digitante. I asked Andy if I could re-post this after I asked my followers on Twitter if anyone understood the new Twitter lists feature. Andy replied and told me he had just written about Twitter lists on his blog and agreed to let me re-post it for Noobie's readers. So now, without further ado... Twitter lists.

Twitter started rolling out a new feature about 2-3 weeks ago called lists. Basically, you can group together your fol… Continue

Options for opening new Word documents with old software

Here's a question I received from one of my readers. I thought everyone could benefit from my reply so I'm including the full question and answer below.

Q: When I tried to open a Word document attachment, a pop up said it was created from a newer version of Microsoft Word and that I needed to install a compatibility pack.

When I clicked through to see what was involved to do that, it came up that it would be a big deal with a number of preliminary steps so I decided it wasn't worth the eff

The perfect way to avoid Best Buy up-selling

I was recently in Best Buy purchasing a computer for a friend. After I picked out the computer and monitor I was escorted to a special checkout line.

This special checkout line should be called the Best Buy up-sell line. When I arrived I was second in line behind an older couple. It took nearly 15 minutes for this couple to get checked out because of the 500 (yes, I am exaggerating) up-sells they had to respond to.

I debated for a second standing behind the salesman and giving a thumbs-up for… Continue

Tuesday Twitter Roundup 11-03-09

Here is this week's roundup of Twitter highlights posted from my Twitter account:

  • My son went trick or treating as a Tootsie Roll. He actually carried a bag of Tootsie Rolls with him and gave them back to homeowners. Solid

  • I'm not sure I understand the usefulness of Twitter lists. Anyone care to explain?

  • Funny video on @edeckers blog || What Peyton Manning Shouts at the Line of Scrimmage

Airport wi-fi no match for iTunes movie download

Every time I travel on an airplane, the plane reaches about 30,000 feet at the exact same time I realize I could have rented a movie from the iTunes Store on my iPhone to watch on the plane.

Too little too late.

But not on my recent trip. My family and I arrived at our gate at the Orlando airport with nearly two hours to spare before our flight departed. For the record, I don't need to get to the airport that early but the Disney Magical Express does.

So while my kids played their Nintendo DS… Continue

HI Patric,

I saw that you were on the Business Roundtable Network (BRN) discussion in Smaller Indiana. We have our biggest event in our short history (Jan. 2009 until now) coming up next week. If ever there was a time to get involved with BRN now would be the time. We provide the support and exchange of expertise needed in this economy. We need a core of people (50) who are truly committed to helping each other get through this economy and thrive.

It would be great to have you as a part of that.

Hope to see you next Thursday. See details below.

Thursday, April 30th

4:30 pm to 6:30 pm

At Conquest Racing Headquarters

Get additional information and register in advance by going to our website: www.brncommunity.com

We need you to register because food is being provided by oyster bar and grill – excellent!

We need numbers so we get the right amount of food!

So register now for this FREE event.

I hope to see you there.

Oh, Kyle started a string (?) that asked everybody to post seven things about you on your own message board or blog. I put mine in the wrong place and have not taken the time to move it.
