What is your greatest strength?
Creativity. I use creativity in both my personal and professional life. Although I am a financial planner in business, I am an artist as a hobby. I enjoy a wide variety of arts and crafts. I paint, draw, scrapbook, etc. Computer graphics are fun too. I like trying different types of crafts as well. I've painted birdhouses, painted rocks, and even built a dollhouse.
What are you working on?
I'm working on meeting new people and growing my financial planning practice.
In my practice, areas of focus include: 1) Women: Studies estimate that up to 90% of women will be solely responsible for their household finances at some point. Whether they're currently handling their finances alone or working alongside a spouse/partner, it's important that women are aware and involved in the financial planning process. I help educate women about their financial goals and responsibilities, so they can make informed decisions and take appropriate action. 2) Families of Children with Special Needs: These families face unique challenges. Because they're so busy dealing with today's issues, they sometimes lack time and energy to deal with tomorrow. Working with a professional can help these families to navigate through a complicated maze of important financial decisions. Comprehensive planning can help them address both current and future issues.

Why join Smaller Indiana? What are you hoping to experience here ?
Meet new people; network; give and receive new business opportunities. If each of us has a passion and a strength, I believe that we can help each other to be successful in our chosen paths. We can all learn from each other. We can also grow both personally and professionally by reaching out to one another.

Lessons from Grandma and Grandpa - financial advice from a past era

There's no question that our economy has endured some extreme challenges and tough times over the past year or so. Everyone agrees that we're officially in a recession, but the question has now become: how long will it last? Is the end near or do we have a longer road to recovery? Regardless of how you feel about our current economic state or the time till recovery, one thing is certain: a lot of people have taken a good hard look at their finances, cut back spending and paid close attention to… Continue

Budgeting blog: Start off 2009 the right way by developing a budget

A new year brings new possibilities and new beginnings. With 2008 behind us, this is an opportunity for a fresh start. Each new year, many people make new year's resolutions, which commonly include intentions to eat right or start an exercise program. These resolutions often don't last beyond the month of January. Sure, we all start off with the best of intentions, but life happens and usually that means our new year's resolutions quickly disappear. At this time of making new year's resolutions,… Continue

Count your blessings

Ahhh, the holidays. What an interesting time of year. So much going on, so many different views and beliefs. The holiday season tends to evoke a wide range of emotions in people. Some are incredibly happy, excited or sentimental. Some do not celebrate or avoid the holidays altogether. Some seem to experience nothing but stress as they prepare for the celebrations, gift-giving or time with family and friends. Others approach the season nonchalantly or with lukewarm feelings. Still others are sad… Continue

To blog or not to blog?

Okay. I'll be honest. I've never been into online social media that much. With the exception of LinkedIn (and now Smaller Indiana), I don't have a profile page posted anywhere. I've never had a blog or a photo gallery or a personal website. These things are all fine and good, and I've enjoyed viewing the blogs, websites and photo galleries of friends and relatives. I've just never done it myself. But now I think that the times have finally caught up with me and I've decided to make that irrevoca… Continue

Hello, I am new to Smaller Indiana and thought I would reach out to connect and say hello. My name is Brandon and I am the Director for Musical Medicine. We build music libraries for hospitals.

Are you planning on attending the Chocolate Blues and Business Networking Festival next Thursday? I hear it's going to be huge, they expect about 1,500 people to attend. It should be a great networking day! I have free tickets, if you need a ticket, let me know and I'll email you one. If you want more details about it, it's listed under events on the 26th.

Have a good day and I look forward to networking with you. Please let me know if I can ever do anything for you,
Brandon
