Please forgive the tardiness of this reply, I am still trying to get my bearings with this site and JUST discovered this thread.
Why do you love Indiana? ... Im unable to go so far as to say I love Indiana, however, I can say I do love where we ended up in Indiana. My family and I moved here from Ohio in 2002, so we are actually transplanted Buckeyes. We reside in Westfield/Noblesville area and the opportunities for our children are endless, be it academics, sports, arts or just general recreation. My children attend Westfield Schools and I have nothing but praises to sing about this district, while the roads have not always been smooth they have always been open to our suggestions or helping my wife and I find avenues to help our kids find their way.
How could it be a better place to live, work, and play?...I think this question is loaded and I am certain the answers are going to vary based on ones perception. What I see is a community that is continually evolving and growing while trying to preserve it's core identity. i.e. since 1966 Noblesville has gone from a small community of 7600 people to over 30K in 2000 and is expected to exceed 50K in the 2010 census. This while hanging on to its small town feel. This has been made possible through the hard work of both the government and especially those folks that choose to get involved to help. I do not have the statistics for Westfield but have witnessed the openings of 3 new elementary schools just since we moved here in 2002.
How can we make it better...GET INVOLVED!!, get those you know involved there are plenty of opportunities we just have to find them.
As in everything, there's always room for improvement. It would be nice to see more collaboration and mentor programs among small business owners.
Thanks for your welcome!
I have grown up in Indiana and appreciate the lower cost of living compared to the rest of the country and I feel safe here...no major earthquakes, hurricanes or tsunami's! I wouldn't trade the colorful Falls for anything----well, maybe the ocean.
As far as the art scene is concerned, Indiana could be more innovative. I know I could make more money on the east or west coast.
you are a busy guy, quite the networker. Thank you for my first welcome.
I guess being an alternative health practitioner makes me curious about others and I look forward to meeting new people. Indiana could be California with the internet,,,we are just a click away from meeting a potential friend.
Thanks for feedback.
To answer your questions;
I don't know if I love Indiana yet as I haven't gotten there, but everything looks good so far. I am moving to South Bend in the middle of spring. The few times I have been there I was very impressed and I am looking forward to this move.
As for your second question; I don't know at this time how it could be a better place. I haven't spent any real time there yet. However as I get settled in I'm sure I'll have my comments.
Thanks again,
Sincerely,
Dudley
Being old school I will eventually muddle my way through!
Thanks
Mark
