One down one to go

Eighteen months. Thats how long I have been searching for a graphic design position in Indiana. But today I wait no longer, I finally gained employment. I can officially say that I am a professional graphic designer! I am going to start on Thursday for the Yellow Pages. I am really excited and happy that I got this opportunity. But this is only half of my goal.

When I started this blog I thought to myself, self you should write about your experience in finding a job and your adventures in start… Continue

Applying for a job with no business info

Well I think I am finally getting somewhere on the job front. Last week I found a post on yahoo jobs for a graphic designer but it was posted with no business name. I usually don’t submit a resume to these types of posts, especially on craigslist.

I see these type of jobs on craigslist and all they are doing is trying to get your information. I made the mistake of sending my resume to one of these listings and you get a instant message back to fill out their online application. It is kind of me… Continue

How do I gain clients with no budget?

This Time I thought I would start by asking a question. How do I gain clients with no budget at all? I have been advertising my website on several places where I could that are free to advertise on the internet and I have started to campaign on social networking sites to get exposure and I am posting blogs.

Unfortunately I have not had much luck yet in getting anyone to contact me. I do have google analytics and have noticed and increase in my traffic but not very much. I am sure there is more… Continue

Okay now what?

Well I have gotten my Smaller Indiana profile set up and I posted a blog and linked it to my website. I also have connected with a few people on the site and I hope to start a core group that I can use as different sources for my freelance business.

On another front I listed my website on yahoo, google, google maps, and several free ad websites in an effort to try and get some traffic to my site. I also signed up for google analytics and adsense. I think I might go for adwords to get more peopl… Continue

My first blog post

Yes sadly this is my first blog post of any kind. I have a blog set up on my freelance website but I have not yet put anything on it. I guess I start by telling people a little about myself.

I am in my mid thirties and went back to college 3 years ago. My then girlfriend had recently finished her undergraduate degree in psychology, and got accepted at Indiana State University into the masters program for mental health counseling. I was a bar manager at the time, and decided that it was a time f… Continue

Hi Jim, thanks for the note. Not at my computer now, but will be sure to check out your site tomorrow or Monday? Would you be interested in designing a signature theme on picklist? Good way to get some exposure and we will be sure to give you our props. Something to think about! Talk to you later,

Mark
