Finally feels like summer...

Vacation is one week away, I am packing up my daughter for summer camp tomorrow and played tennis this week. Until those things came together, I was feeling like it would never feel like summer- being holed up in the office, endless meetings and sleeping with cell phone was sucking the energy right out of me. At a hotel - it can feel like everyone else is getting to enjoy the summer, as the van drops off families at the airport heading to Hawaii, Cancun, Orlando etc.
But next weekend, I will be… Continue

Just call me...

Not that there is anything we can do about it now - but do any of us have off time where we are unreachable by our workplace? Remember when - if you were not at home or at work , then people just had to wait to talk to you? Cell phones are the reason we walk out of movies or dinner with our friends and family, even holiday events to make sure business can move forward. But didn't it all work before?

One day I noticed that I was about to take a shower and I placed my cell phone and my home phone… Continue

Career Day

I was recently asked to talk about hotel and restaurant management to high school students for their career day. Having had some challenging times at work recently, I wondered how to give the benefits of these careers while giving an accurate picture of what it is truly like. As I am talking about my experience, the great opportunities that are out there - I am also making them realize it is no day at the park. It is one of the hardest fields, as far as appreciation goes, time for family, and pa… Continue

When it is all too much...

So realizing I can be a workaholic and being proud of it at times - I also have to know when to say no. As a wife and mother, I often have put work ahead of my family and often they forgive me for it. But it does not make it right, and if I have to have a massage therapist and chiropractor to keep me functioning - that is also I sign I may be taking on too much.
On the other hand, I also think that if more people took their work more seriously - I would not have to be taking on so much. Yes, I l… Continue

Hi Nicki-How are you?
I did get the info about the dry cleaners, just no time to act on it. To say I am overwhelmed is the understatement of the year :)
I don't know if we are still under contract with the cleaners we have, but will try to look into it this week. Am still on the hiring, training and releasing train.

How have you been? I emailed you about a month ago about a dry cleaners... Did you receive it? My email has had some crazy things going on... apparently some spam filters don't like blog addresses?

Are you still up the road?
