I've been to a couple of Indy Hub events. Just let me know which one you think you're interested in. I'd love to meet up before the next PK! I was actually going to the last one, but of course, something else came up. Glad to hear from you!

Welcome Janneane!
We met at the Indy Huib event at the Market.
Glad all is going well with KAPLUSA.
Best,
Dave

PS - I don't like the new Facebook - it is not as reader friendly as the last one. It is geared toward more adverts. :)

Why join Smaller Indiana? What are you hoping to experience here ?
I've had the benefit to become a part of both the nonprofit and for profit climates in Indiana. An internship experience with Leadership Ventures, formerly TLD, exposed me to : RISE 2020 a state initiative to increase quality of life in Indiana rural communities; Indy Hub, a network of Indianapolis young professional networks; Indy ONboard, a TLD program focused on enriching nonprofit leadership with up and coming for profit executives. An additional internship with the IMA, allowed me to get involved with the community through arts and the Indiana Black Expo. Enriching my nonprofit experience is my recent entry to small business Indiana through Kristian Andersen + Associates. Work here daily introduces me to venture-funded technology startups, born right here in Indiana. Already, I can feel the alliance forming between these innovative businesses and look forward to the collective strength that is sure to result.

Change? A Facebook litmus test

Facebook Fans are in apparent uproar over the new user interface, with petitions galore to revert back to the old interface - 5,000,000 against the new version of Facebook. They don't like the change.

Change. That magic word that rings in our ears thanks to Obama.

I find it amusing / alarming that our youthful population who can't handle a UX change on their social network app, most likely clamor to Obama, earnest for cha… Continue

Social / Economic Theory

Is it possible that the recession, this downfall in our economy is a purging of an over-indulgent consuming society? Is it a cry for help, a return to the basics, the remedy of a higher being? Is our misfortune a diamond in the rough?

As a competivie, perfectionist society, it is hard for America to succumb or admit to weakness. However, cleansing of our ways, a nod to efficiency, and reverence and return to ancient establishments may be just what the signs predict whether we like it our not.… Continue

Consumption

With our economy in the throes, the green movement growing chic, and theories-galore about healthy diets - it's hard to escape Consumption.

Even Wall-E, Pixar's new hit, examines future effects of our consumption through the lens of Buy n' Large. This fictitious store's "lulling calls to consumption help to soften and fatten the human race (you should see these blobs) and separate them from the natural world," says New York Magazine's David Edelstein in his… Continue
