Hi Edgar!

Would be more than happy to be a resource for you.

I have a lot of knowledge in:
- job search (was a recruiter)
- networking (was a business developer)
- mastering stretching (phsically and metaphysically)

Take advantage of my knowledge... should you choose to.

I'm looking to connect and network. I'm looking for a new job or gig and I know from experience that this is the best way to accomplish that.

I have to admit I really am new to the concept of social networking, so I'd appreciate any tips or guides. I have been thinking of starting a blog, but I wonder if I can be me yet also be professions, aka "behave" online.

Wage Deflation

In the past two weeks I’ve had conversations with recruiters about potential gigs. The gigs sound interesting with a large local company where I have been before. Then they talk about money –the number discussed is a quarter, even a half of what I have been paid to work there before in a comparable position.

I had to say no to this. I’m a single-person household and I know what it takes to stay afloat. I’m surprised that this company, one of the largest in central Indiana, is enga… Continue

Making Work

I’ve been gigless for a long time. I need to do something, but I’d like to do something that I could be passionate about. I’m not idle – in some ways you could say I’m catching up – the online world is a fire hose and I’m enjoying the immersion it brings. But I need help.

That’s when I sought out St. Cajetan, who is the patron saint of job seekers. He was an interesting man – adviser to popes, a canon lawyer, and the founder of an order of priests who lived in community yet worked in the world.… Continue

Edgar Economics

In college I was an economics major. Last fall I would read the New York Times and get pulled away from the screen by my roomie so I can recover from palpitations. The world seems to be going to hell in a hand basket…or is it? Hence:

Huntington’s Iron Law of Markets states that Markets have inertia, meaning markets will keep going down until they go up.

Huntington’s Attitude Axiom states that Thoughts are real, meaning that if we think the economy is crap, and it will be, until o… Continue

Monday 911

This morning my mood is discouraged, but the background feeling is anger.

I’m reflecting on my situation right now – I need and income and I need something meaningful to do. I’ve been without either for a long time. My Plan B went into effect, now waiting for the Plan C. (There is no Plan C.)

I’m discouraged, not because I may have to lose things like a house, but the tools and utility that many things provide - things like computers, cars, privacy.

When I’m interviewed I can sense the moment… Continue

Networking vs. Networking

My name is Edgar and I have a fear of networking.

Is it a fear, really? When I step into a room with intent to network what do I want?

As an introvert, I need the big group brought down to a more manageable size. I need to be able to relax, sit down, and connect one-on-one. I need to be able to communicate with others, make my pitch, but also be relaxed enough so I can genuinely listen.

It's helpful if I had been invited, and the invitation was personal. The person who invited you should be t… Continue
