Good Morning, I just read your profile and thought as a small business professional you might be interested in our local business network (IBN). Indiana Business Network has chapters all over the state. Locally we meet in Plainfield every Wednesday morning at 10am. There is no cost or obligation to check it out and the monthly dues are only $25.00. I joined recently and it is by fare the least expensive means of lead generation that I've found. I'd be happy to answer any questions if you are interested.

Hi David:
Lunch would be great. Actually, for me things are not going very well. I have been unable to find work thus far. I have even applied at Marsh, the local liquor store and costco. Have had some interviews and am hopeful of landing a position at Bearingpoint doing communications and change management for a large IT implementation at the Finance Center at Fort Ben. In related news, I have had to file for bankruptcy, my home is in foreclosure and I had to return my leased BMW. The silver lining in this, if there is one, is that I got to drive the BMW for 9 months for free...saving 5K and avoiding maintenance costs in May, new tires in summer. My lawyer says the bank won't get me out of my home for about 18 months. He says he can reopen the bankruptcy when I get a job and arrange to pay the mortgage arrears over 5 years and stop the foreclosure. I now am driving a borrowed/rented 1991 Nissan Pathfinder with 220,000 miles. Adding to my challenges: I had been taking blood pressure medication and had lost about 20 pounds over the summer, so the meds worked better than anticipated. The Sunday before the election, I gor off the couch to empty my dryer and fainted in the laundry room. I fell on my face and broke a tooth and moved the two front teeth to the side and rear. No dental insurance, so the emergency dental clinic would not help me. The next day, my dentist came in and did 2 1/2 hours surgery on my and rebuilt the broken tooth and reset the two front teeth. Unfortunately, they are dying so I will have to have root canals, then have some crowns put on. I guess things could be worse. I still have a car, food, shelter and hope for the future.

David,

I don't know if you're reading Your PR Guy's blog, but I put together a compendium of thoughts from some of todays most influential bloggers and public relations experts on social media.

The title of the piece, My Barista Is a Social Media Expert came out of a discussion on Twitter. I don't know how involved MZD is with SM these days, but you might find the thoughts and insights useful if your company is looking for one. I've linked the title to the Taable of Contents.

You might also find Shel Holtz's post on the subject interesting too.

Hi David,
Thought you might want to join the Brownsburg group too, since you are involved in the Brownsburg school corporation.

Thanks. Bob speaks well of you. This Smaller Indiana network seems like a great thing. I'll be finishing my master's degree in May, so I'm hoping to be an excellent PR resource for organizations in the area.

Yeah, trying to get the smoke free message out there. If you could refer people to the Smoosiers for a Smoke Free Indiana group that would be great. I hope all is going well over at MZD.

Hi David,
I manage marketing and communication for a financial planning company on the northeast side of Indianapolis. I'm finishing a Master of Arts in Applied Communication at IUPUI -- have a Certificate in PR as well. And I'm a Bob Dittmer disciple. An IU alum, I was a reporter too.

Yep, I am still at SPJ and things are going well. Best of all, everyone was supportive of my being gone for two weeks.

The surgery went well, but I am left with a lot of pain. It'll get better though.

Thanks,

Beth
