A Jungle Story Comes to Kokomo

Over a century ago Rudyard Kipling wrote a series of stories about life in the jungles of India. These stories were eventually compiled into what became The Jungle Book. Years later Disney Studios created an animated version. Today we have a completely new version of The Jungle Book in the form of a still-life photo of a [...] Related posts:

Save Money with Coupons and Discounts

Don’t you just love to save money? I know we sure do! A week or so ago my husband and I went to Mi Familia for dinner. Before we went, I looked through my coupons and found one for 50% off. It was one of those deals where you buy one dinner at the regular price [...] Related posts:

I’m not going to tell you where this house is located, because it is in a small town and I guess I want to protect the identities of the guilty! Some details about the [...] Related posts:

Beth - I hadn't gotten too deep into the "follows" so I spend last night going through all those followers and blocked a whole bunch. I actually decide to follow a few who seemed to have more to offer than just some product they are pushing. This ...

Patrick - Thank you for clarifying and more important what you do with follow requests. Some "experts" say to let everyone follow you and to reciprocate with all. That becomes no more than a numbers game. For the spammers, as you said, it's just l...

Thanks Jane, my inclination was to "block" some of the marketers, but I'm not sure if that's what you mean by "dump" them. The interesting thing is that the "expert" has some good info - but I am tempted to unfollow him. Can you or someone else c...

Hey Betty,
You should look at Allkokomo.com and think about putting your business on there or even talk to us about how your business and Allkokomo.com could work together. e-mail me at lkenworthy@profitws.com.

Betty, if I understand correctly, try this:

Redirect Old domain to New domain (htaccess redirect)
Create a .htaccess file with the below code, it will ensure that all your directories and pages of your old domain will get correctly redirected to your new domain.

The .htaccess file needs to be placed in the root directory of your old website (i.e the same directory where your index file is placed)

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.newdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Please REPLACE www.newdomain.com in the above code with your actual domain name.

In addition to the redirect I would suggest that you contact every backlinking site to modify their backlink to point to your new website.
Note* This .htaccess method of redirection works ONLY on Linux servers having the Apache Mod-Rewrite moduled enabled.

Hey Betty, saw your comment about moving a site from TypePad to Wordpress, but couldn't reply. I did the same thing with Movable Type (from the the same makers of TypePad) using an old Wordpress plugin called "Underscore Permalinks." The plugin changed the hyphens to underscores, because Wordpress uses hyphens by default. I also had to change the permalink structure to: /archives/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html

Let me know if you need help.

Glad to see you are ahead of the social media curve in Kokomo. Although I am not suprised as I had noticed your website several years ago. I hope you are doing well!

Ahh the age old question of being productive in Social Media. I encourage you to keep reading my blog. It really is dependent on whether or not you feel social media could fit into your overall marketing strategy. If not.. there is no reason to spend the time to learn and commit to a strategy.

We can help with building a strategy and developing ideas for brand development but that is only if someone really believes in the concept of social media.
