Making people and ideas findable

I'm in a fairly new relationship and in the beginning I was going through a very non-productive period as a Writer. Over the last month, I have been either deep into my own writing, with the upcoming release of my first collection, titled: Hell is an Awfully Big City, from Wild Cat Books, or in the editing of my pdf. quarterly, Strange, Weird, and Wonderful Magazine.
The new burst of creativity, has put a strain on my relationship that wasn't there during my recent non-productive period. Does your writing effect your relationship(s)?

With your relationship being so new, I'm not surprised at all that your writing is getting in the way. I have been in a relationship for over fifteen years, and we are just now getting the hang of things... The fact is, if you want to do this for a living, then it WILL consume you! That is the nature of the beast. The important thing is to sit down with your significant other and have a long and meaningful conversation about the profession you have chosen.

I don't know if you've ever heard of the singer/songwriter Tori Amos, but she said once that she often gets ideas for songs out of nowhere and has to write them down IMMEDIATELY, or else she forgets the most important parts. On one occasion, she said that she had to stop making love to her husband. She said, "sorry, honey. I really need to write these lines down." Can you believe that? It happens though!

Doing anything creative for a living takes a lot out of you, but you seem dedicated. I hope this helped, and I hope I get the chance to read your collection! Good luck to you!
