Hi Andrew, I've been doing this professionally since '96 and have a triple educational background in graphic arts, software engineering, and business management. I cut my programming teeth on Commodore 64 Basic. Later, when I started working professionally, I used ASP/ColdFusion (very few choices back then), then moved on to enterprise Pervasive Tango (WiTango) as a national instructor (doesn't exist any more, Java-based, used by Honeywell and NASA primarily) and PHP as a hobby. In 2000, I switched gears to work at an ad agency in Madison, Wisconsin, as the Interactive Director, primarily using Flash ActionScript for frontend and PHP for backend. Ten years later, I'm now an expert at and supporter of open source PHP and modern HTML/CSS/javascript, using both extensively, daily for projects with small businesses and small to mid-sized non-profits.

What year did you start doing web dev?

Are there any fellow "old-timers" like me in this group?

It blows my mind to see that the "Web Developers In Indiana" group has more than 400 members. I say this because when I first entered the field eons ago I was probably one of maybe 20 web designers in Indy. It's truly amazing to see the transition in HTML standards evolve since HTML 1.0, and to see so many people flock to this rapidly morphing industry.

For back-end dev & CMS I got started with a program called HTML/OS, an application built by Aestiva.com. Developing with that is kinda coding in ColdFusion. Back in the day, it was cool. I speculate that the widespread adoption of PHP diminished Aestiva's enthusiasm for promoting a development tool.

With plenty of web war stories to share, I'm looking forward to meeting others in the group.

Hi everyone! I'm from Rainmakers Marketing Group in Indianapolis. Rainmakers is a business development system that provides a platform for business growth and personal goal achievement.

We operate on the philosophy of Be More. Serve More®.

We view networking as a way to build relationships that will bring you an annuity stream of business rather than a one-time sale. We teach people how to build long-term strategic relationships by identifying a niche and building their business relationships within it.

On June 1, we will be hosting an event in Indianapolis called Techmakers. It's for people interested in meeting new IT professionals, learning something new, and sharing skills and ideas. See http://bit.ly/bv3XIz or contact Rainmakers at 866-375-RAIN for more details.

Hey everyone! I'm looking for small web design firms that would like to offer large services (sales force, design team, etc.) without a huge investment. Plus, there is the potential for cash bonuses based on the number of sites sold (up to $2100/week). Lets have coffee, talk about your needs and see if there is a fit!

I will be relocating to Lafayette in February. I am a web graphic designer strong in CSS, with familiarity with CMS's such as Joomla, WP and Drupal. I am looking for work! Where do you all suggest I start! I currently work as a web developer and freelance as well. Is the market in IN more suitable for me to freelance? Or look for a legitimate job at a design company? I would LOVE some advice on this. I do not know IN at all - but I do know - I WANT TO BE WORKING (in my field) when I get there! (Portfolio at http://www.BreRoz.com)
