Hey everyone. My startup company Pocket Tales is looking to fill a couple of open positions. Currently, we're looking for both front end (web and graphics design, RIA developers) and back end web developers for our web app. We're building an exciting new company focused on digital children's books. Part-time and full-time positions are available.

To learn more about the positions, visit www.pockettales.com/jobs.html, or if you have any questions send an email to joinus@pockettales.com.

Hey all. Need a little help. Willow Marketing is looking for a Web Development Intern/Coop. The pay isn't stellar and this is NOT a full-time position, but a project based position. That doesn't mean if the right person comes along and impresses us that we wouldn't consider it. We can promise you'll get loads of hands-on experience in a creative environment. You should be a detail orientated web application developer with a sense of creative vision. PHP experience a must, specifically using CodeIgniter. Also looking for LAMP knowledge and familiarity. Flash programming experience a is bonus. Plus:

-- Javascript DOM manipulate using jQuery and their plugins
-- Multimedia skills as well as familiarity with Video Applications
-- Social Network application linking and interaction familiarity
-- HTML/CSS fundamentals are required
-- Ability to work with a team and handle component development used within a larger structure
-- Speak English (geek speak OK, but not your only language) and have excellent communication skills
-- Interest in learning new technologies and principles that will further our development capabilities

If you're interested send a resume and a portfolio of work or past examples utilizing some of the requirements listed here. Send to bradgillum@willowmarketing.com.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Thanks for the tips. I can't wait to read them.
In the time since talking this morning something has come up that will likely keep me from attending the Drupal meeting, but I will try to attend the next one, and do some reading up on it in the meantime.
This sounds very much like the C#/Vb.Net debate. Competing technologies used for the same thing that have separate strengths both of which are marching towards a point of common point of usability.

That was a good article. I think it's also important to note that the Drupal community knows it's weaknesses and is working very hard on improving them. Drupal's admin area sucks for beginners. So the admin module was created and the Drupal Usability movement was strated.

There is a lot of cross talk between Drupal and Joomla and both sides are learning from the others. Future releases of Joomla are going to have a much better API and future release of Drupal will have a much better UI. I think the both systems are great for each other!

Companies like Development Seed are donating their skills to making drupal better. They released a concept called "features" and created Open Atirum

One very true aspect is the design. Drupal was developed more for developers. There is a huge lack of excellent Drupal designers. The complexity of Drupal's themeing system is it's greatest weakness.
