Hey KIB, check this out...

The Hoosier Environmental Council has launched a video contest for this summer and fall, coinciding with movement of major energy/global warming legislation in Congress (a historic bill just passed out of the House last week!)

The contest is called Green Energy NOW! and the goal is to find out what Hoosiers are doing to fight global warming in their daily lives and why/how they are advocating for green energy/climate action (personally and/or legislatively) – in new and creative ways (online videos).

Prizes will be awarded for the four videos that are:
- the funniest: $200 prize
- the most creatively produced: $200 prize
- the most thoughtful/well-researched: $200 prize
- the HEC favorite (GRAND prize): $500 prize
- All participants will receive an HEC organic cotton t-shirt and window decal...

You can make your video with a video-camera, a webcam, your cell phone, or post an image slideshow/presentation with music/voiceover. Keep your video under 3 minutes and upload it to the contest's YouTube page:

The contest begins June 30 and ends August 24; winners will be announced on HEC’s website and the YouTube page on August 31 and contacted personally to arrange receipt of prizes.

For video ideas, software resources, and official contest rules, download these guidelines

Spread the news about this contest to your friends/family. This is a great way to keep the energy/climate conversation going - but in a more creative and personal way. We all want a good bill, but our relationship with the environment runs deeper than legislation - what's your story?

SustaIN: Indiana’s Green Ideas and Networking Event is scheduled for Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, 2009 from 10am-4pm at the Crowne Plaza at Historic Union Station in Downtown Indianapolis.

The event is a unique forum for students, business professionals, and the general public to meet with and learn from Indiana’s research and industry leaders about green and sustainability initiatives and practices.

David Forsell, Executive Director of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Incorporated, will provide the keynote address. Attendees can participate in panel discussions with business leaders and university researchers on sustainability topics including alternative energy and green building. In addition, Indianapolis-area high school and college students will be presenting their green ideas in poster sessions throughout the event. Local businesses are encouraged to register as exhibitors to showcase their green/sustainability projects.

SustaIN is sponsored by the Career Development Professionals of Indiana and Direct Employers JOBcentral, and is hosted by the Indiana Collegiate and Multicultural Career Fair Advisory Board, in partnership with the Indiana Sustainability Alliance (INSA), the Bezos Family Foundation, and Lawrence North High School.

Registration for SustaIN is free, but required for all attendees. For more information, please visit www.sustainindiana.org or contact Scott Feeny at sfeeny@iupui.edu, or (317) 274-3215.

We're working out the logistics now with Chase Tower management. Our office is right around the corner at Michigan & Pennsylvania. Lacking a better plan, just drop off your stuff at 101 E Michigan and we'll make sure it gets on the truck.

Thanks!

We're sponsoring The Chase Tower eCycling event on April 22. If you have old computer equipment (anything with a cord ;) - but aren't a tenant in the Chase Tower - let me know and we'll arrange a drop off point nearby.

5. Please do NOT post commercial video (demo reels), or Corporate Website promotions in your blog

6. You can post pretty much anything you want on your own personal page (self promotion, etc), and you can change the style of your personal profile page to reflect your corporate identification if you so choose.

7. Smaller Indiana is supported by its members, and by corporate sponsors. If you're interested in learning more about sponsorship, please call Pat Coyle at 317 332 7878.
