Hey all - check out our MLK Day event at the Earth House Collective on Monday from 11:00 - 3:00. We're having an interfaith worship service, organic lunch ($8 sugg. donation) and activist call to action with some stories from local workers trying to organize! www.centralindianajwj.org

Hi Allison--thanks for the encouragement! I went to your website & Earth House Collective and absoulutely love it! I want to join and make it available to my womens group as well, teach them how to get plugged into matters that really count! I put down December 11th in my planner- hope to catch you over there!

Hi Carol -
I share your passion, and have been talking to our steering committee about the same types of issues. Unfortunately, we don't have much capacity or clout, but we're working on it. I think the workforce in general needs to be more fair, so that the only jobs for ex-offenders are not the same jobs that other low-skilled workers and teenagers are competing for. If unemployment continues to go up, then those with felonies will be marginalized even more easily. This doesn't help the ones who are currently incarcerated....

How about justice for formerly incarcerated women? These women need our help--they are treated poorly in jail-not able to see their children--not receiving education or a chance to learn a trade--many returning to the streets and repeating the cycle of incarceration. We need to help employers, support them so that ex-felons can be hired--justice has to start somewhere!
