Making people and ideas findable

Hey Everyone! Hope you are well! I need some help. I have started my website and love it, but it is a lot of work...anyway...

I am needing some shots of the city for the website, so I need some images, help, and/or advice. I don't want to seem cheap, but could I trade a few shots for posting credit on my site or posting the url of the photographer's website? Or should I be paying them?

Feel free to email me as well.

Thanks!
john

What is your site?
I would have to see where my work was going before I offered up any of my lovelies.
Just sayin'.

John,

I am an avid photographer with a variety of images collected over several years since switching for the most part to digital photography a few years ago. What kind of photo's are you looking for in particular. What is the purpose of your website (hobby, not-for-profit, or commercial) and for whom?
Unless the website is for use with your hobby or for a fledgling NFP, I would presume you have a budget as well. Whether a person is an aclaimed professional or an amatuer trying to sell their first photo, they deserve a fair price and recognition for their work; particularly if it is for a commercial purpose.

I think this video kinda puts "working for cheap" or "free" into perspective:

Absolutely loved the video Doug. I posted it to my facebook page and I intend to share it will the Visual Communication's Department Chairman at Ivy Tech. This will be a great tool for students!

Here's some pictures. Hope that helps. If you need any more, I can look through the rest of my photos. But if you need specific shots, I can go and shoot them as well.

Hi John, any particulars? Or, just what are you looking for out of the city?

Hey john-

I have some city shots you could use in exchange for credit, depending on what it is you were looking for specifically. Send me an email trpdnabx@me.com

I agree with what some others have said about people assuming photographers will work for free/credit, I think someone mentioned you would never ask your doctor to work for free? For the most part I completely agree with that. And I hate when "newer" photographers sell them selves short like that.

When it comes to certain things though, like photographs of the city, or photographs of Sculptures, etc... I feel like the creative property in that case doesn't belong to me. An awesome shot of monument circle can really showcase my talent and ability, but monument circle doesn't belong to me it is there for everyone to enjoy, so my photograph should be as well. This is my personal belief and I don't hold anyone else too it.
