Making people and ideas findable

Well we've had a couple of suggestions, one for Johns Famous Stew, and one for Barringers. Rae also asked for a change of date. Any thoughts?

I'm ok with wherever. Just name the place!

Since it's gotten cool outside, I'm up for stew.

A) No (my fault)
B) See you there in January

barringers has some great lunch specials that are real comfort type foods, like chicken and dumplings and salmon patties and fried potatoes. call pam before your trip and see what she's cooking, it's always fresh that morning.

John's Famous Stew is great. It's got my vote.

Isn't Barringers a chain?

Barringer's is one of the oldest taverns in the city. It's located at Pleasant Run Parkway and Meridian on the near south side. The memories I have of it are a great fried tenderloin, corn beef and cabbage on January 2, and that distinctive dusty look of an ancient bar that's never been redecorated.

That being said, the decor of John's is about the same, and the food is about as comfortable as it gets. Either one is fine with me. I think that whichever we choose, we ought to give the other one a try at a later date.

Looking at the comments, it's probably evenly split between the two so as "Group Mom" I suppose I should make an executive decision or something. Doug, you've been wanting to take us to Barringer's for some time, so let's go there in December, and how about John's for January? It'll still be plenty cold for stews then!

Okay, Mom, Barringer's it is, Friday December 12 (note the date change) 1pm, 2535 S. Meridian St. (317)783-3663. There's a Last Chance neon sign in the window. Last chance for good comfort food? See you there.

Barringer's sounds good. Have we decided on a date yet? Sometime before the 18th?

December 12th. I head to Florida once a year to see my family and we'll be leaving before our usual third Friday of the month, so I asked if it was cool to do it a week earlier.
