Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

Ok, on ambiance and music choice alone, I give this place a definite thumbs up, as there's a LARGE screen TV that was playing a live Queen show when we arrived. When it ended, they started AC/DC Back in Black. The menu was pretty big and it was difficult to choose, though I headed right to the Reuben, since that was what I was curious about. It was indeed good, not my favorite, but very good. I like the corned beef a little trimmer and the rye bread a little heartier, a la Shapiro's, but the portions were generous. Doug had a portobello mushroom sandwich that had the largest portobello cap I've ever seen, Brian had a French Dip that was loaded and looked pretty good. I forgot what every one else had, but everyone seemed pretty satisfied.

For the next lunch in October, we'd like to try something on the north side, to give others a chance to make it. Any suggestions? Someone came up with an idea, but I forget what it was.

The Tie Dye Grill was very good. Definitely one that I need to revisit. The french dip was one of the better ones I've had. The sirloin was tender and, for the lack of a better descriptor, meaty.

I can't wait for next month b/c the weight wager will be over and I won't feel quite so bad.

I think we briefly talked about Sizzling Wok on N. Michigan Ave. & 71st St. They make great vietnamese pancakes!

I love Sizzling Wok. Their clay pot meals are a treat too, and the goi rolls are mighty fine. Sounds good to me!

Then make it so, Number 1. Shall we do the 17th or 24th of October, since it has five Fridays?
