Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

I think we may have talked about this place at one time: Mug n Bun at 5311 W. 10th St. I just read about it on the Middle West Meals blog. I don't know whether they have a place to sit, but it might be worth a try if we all pile into cars and eat at the drive-in.

I'm in - and thanks, Erik, for reading and linking to my blog! There is outside seating at lovely picnic tables - some even in the shade.

Count me in. Doctor says my bad cholesterol is low. This should help...

As for golf, Winston Churchill said "Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into a even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose."

So do you play or not?

Funny how people get all uppity with me when I explain that the ultimate purpose of baseball is to make nothing happen.

Well, as things go, I won't be able to make it to the Mug this Friday. I'm in training this week and had hoped that we'd be released on Friday in time to make it out to the west side, but learned this morning that we won't be out until 2ish. Hope you see you all again in September...looking forward to seeing where we're going!

I'm in a similar situation - work has altered my schedule for the day and I won't be able to get greasy fingers via the MnB onion rings. Dagnabbit!

Hope you all have a great time!

I'm looking forward to Erik's assessment of the pork tenderloin. Hope others can join us.

Here's my assessment of today's HITW lunch:
Company - outstanding as always
Onion Rings - very good to excellent; coating stayed on which is a trick because onions steam as they heat up and the coating usually separates from the onion (now you know)
Root Beer - Da Best!
Tenderloin - I'm not a fan of preprocessed tenderloins so these were just ok to me. I like mine hand cut, pounded and breaded. These are bought from a supplier. If you do like them this way, then you'll love these. I'll grant that they cooked them just right.
Atmosphere - love the outdoor seating.

Will I go back? Yep. Rae's burger looked pretty tasty to me.

The burger was ok. I like Workingman's Friend better. Boogie Burger was different in style than WMF but nice and lean, with a great chargrilled flavor. But oh, the root beer at Mug N Bun. Love it. And they do have some seriously good onion rings.

You guys are killing me! Onion rings? Tenderloins? Burgers? Root Beer? And I was stuck in an over-air conditoned office being trained on something that I don't really care to know anyway. And on top of that, I had a Lean Cuisine for lunch. I feel like a Dilbert cartoon.

Certainly looking forward to meeting up in September. Any ideas discussed today?
