Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

I think we may have talked about this place at one time: Mug n Bun at 5311 W. 10th St. I just read about it on the Middle West Meals blog. I don't know whether they have a place to sit, but it might be worth a try if we all pile into cars and eat at the drive-in.

They do have outdoor benches, or you can eat in your car. Cash only. I thought the food was ok, not great, but apparently it's an institution around here. The root bear, though, was mighty fine, and I know you're on your quest for the Best Tenderloin so this might be a place to try.

How about Friday August 8?

Reply to This

Could we do it on the 15th? I'd like to make this a monthly thing, rather than a here and there thing. Of course, it's not my group, so I can't really just make that decision.

Not my group either but if someone has to be "list mom", I suppose it would be me. I think a monthly thing that's more organized is great, and if there are "pick up lunches" here and there if a couple of people are available and have an interest in a particular place, that's ok too.

A regular date or day of the month makes sense. Unfortunately, a year ago when I made my eye doctor appt. on the 15th we weren't meeting...

No matter, I suggest we pick the same Friday each month.

I know it's 5 weeks from the last date, but what about the 22nd? We could say the 4th Friday of every month.

works for me. in the mean time, nothing's stopping us from eating some good grub somewhere else before then.

Ok, Friday, August 22nd, 1 pm at Mug n Bun it is.

Hey, I'll be back from San Francisco then! Awesome!

I'll be there on the 22nd as well. Mug N' Bun reminds me very much of the Bear's Den in Shelbyville, and that's a good thing. Fun Fact: Mug N' Bun was featured nationally during pre-race coverage of the Brickyard 400 last year. Or was it the Indy 500? Anyway, it was covered during one of those races where they turn left a lot.

Excellent! A new lunch buddy. We have 80 members now on this list and only a few of them come out and join us.

I am a new Smoosier and love to eat so this group seems perfect for me so I hope to meet many of you on the 22nd. I used to cruise the Bear's Den in Shelbyville - back in the day. I also enjoyed the rootbeer at Mun N' Bun when I worked on that side of town.
