Residents needed to Star in “Gaga for Google” Music Video on Sunday, March 21 at Fishers Town Hall

FISHERS, IN – Residents in Fishers are needed for on-camera talent in an effort to convince Google to select Fishers as one of its test communities for the ultra-high speed broadband project “Google Fiber”. The Town of Fishers and the Fishers Chamber of Commerce are having a call-out on Sunday, March 21 at 1:30 p.m. in front of Fishers Town Hall.

The Town of Fishers is submitting an official application, and part of the application process is to include a creative video showcasing the community and why it should be selected.

The “Power Up Fishers” task force is creating a music video to the tune of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” which will feature members of the community. Participants are asked to wear jeans and yellow, red, blue, or green-t-shirts. No registration or audition is required. Any age resident or business owner is welcome.

"The Town of Fishers needs the help of our students, residents, and businesses. Everyone needs to convince Google that there is no better place in the country to demonstrate that ultra-high-speed access to information will help each student, resident, and business grow and prosper to their potential," said Scott A. Faultless, Fishers Town Council President.

Residents can also help the effort by completing the survey online at www.FastFishers.com under “Nominate Fishers”.

Google claims that Internet speeds of 1 gigabit per second could allow (among countless other things):

* Health facilities to stream three-dimensional images over the web to facilitate collaboration and better patient care.
* High-definition movie downloads of full-length feature films in less than five minutes.
* Three dimensional video opportunities

For more information on the Google Fiber project, please visit www.FastFishers.com.

Fishers, Indiana Needs Your Help!

Imagine the possibilities... Internet speeds at 100 times faster than what you currently experience with Cable or DSL at home, or the T-1 at work.

Lightning fast downloads, On Demand movies in minutes, Video seminars without interruption, and countless other things you could be experiencing with Fiber to your home.

Businesses would have the ability to significantly improve communications and innovate their operations. What a great way to promote businesses moving or remaining in Fishers, Indiana.

Google announced on February 10th that it plans to build and test ultra-high speed fiber networks in a select number of communities across the United States. The fiber network will communicate data at 1 Gigabyte per second, or the equivalent of 1,000 Megabytes per second. The average cable and DSL speeds today range from 3Mb - 10Mb per second.

Users of the Google Fiber network will experience internet and data communications approximately 100 to 300 times faster.

Fishers is set up to be a prime candidate for the Google Fiber test network. We have recently been designated by BusinessWeek as the #1 Best Affordable Suburbs in America. In 2009, Fishers was recognized as Best Place in Indiana to Raise Kids, 11th Best Place in America to Move, and Top 100 Best Places to Live in America.

We need your Help!

The Town of Fishers, along with other local businesses are hard at work putting together an application to send to Google prior to the March 26th Deadline.

As a resident, we need you to show your support for this project by visiting Fiber4Fishers.com and Nominating Fishers. You must have a Google or Gmail account to fill out the nomination form, which only takes a few minutes to complete.

You can also join the Fiber4Fishers movement by following us on Twitter or Facebook.

Having a Google Fiber network will greatly improve the business community and the lives of the Fishers residents. To be chosen, we must, as a community, show the support for this project.
