Making people and ideas findable

Information

Computer Blues

I began this group as a way of helping computer users identify and resolve many of their own issues. My thinking is that not all issues should require experts.

I dig it!

I truly enjoy finding out why things work....or fail to work. As much as I feel for people who get frustrated with their computer issues, I cannot help but get excited at the prospect of getting to the bottom of those issues. It's what I love. I have been disassembling electronics since...well, for about 35 years, now. If something doesn't work, I'm not afraid to take it apart to see what the problem is. Which is why I love being a computer tech. In my mind, computer hardware and computer software are not all that different. If they are "broken" or not working, there might be a way to fix them.

Indy IT Professionals is dynamic organization comprised of systems, network, telecom, website, and marketing professionals. We are growing yet again.

Indy IT Professionals is looking for an expert in XML for a specific project.

This position must be willing to work with a Project Manager and team of developers to automate the process of receiving files in a delimited format, automate conversion to XML format, and submit to another company via Secure HTTP.

This position is ideal for someone who:

1) is working a part time job
2) is currently seeking employment and would like to pick up some hours of work
3) is currently an independent consultant or contractor

We are not looking for a freelancer who is only available after regular business hours. We can be flexible, but you must be too. We are looking for someone who could work various times with consideration that some work may go into the evening and/or weekend. Remote support is also very likely.

Candidates must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with business owners and/or managers. Effective communication is key. The ability to document is critical.

More information about the company can be found by visiting: www.indyitprofessionals.com

For consideration, please submit your resume in a word or pdf format to info@indyitprofessionals.com

If you are having an issue, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. I've been doing tech support for Indiana University for a little under a year and I'm pretty good with Windows troubleshooting, passable with Macs, and good with WordPress, XHTML, CSS.

Great group. Too many people are left out there to fend for themselves. Glad to see people coming together to help. I've been on Macs since '88 and a Mac systems manager since '90. (that's "dead" in dog years) I specialize in graphic design and art department networks. I also enjoy keeping the old ones up and running. If there's anything I can do to help answer any questions please feel free to email me.

Thanks Doug. I figured since the vast majority of us have at least one computer to contend with, it might be useful.
Over the years, I learned, and still do learn, much of what I know from researching forums and figuring things out myself.

As it happens, we (Dragon PC) are building "new" systems out of donated parts. We then give them to families and students who cannot otherwise afford a computer.

Imagine my disappointment when I joined this group and found that Ray Charles wasn't going to be a topic?!

Seriously, though, I'm fairly well versed in all things Macintosh. So should someone have an issue in that arena, I'd love to help find the answers.

Victoria, great group idea!

Great---the next time I cannot figure out what happened after my Vista update--I might ask for help--thanks!

Also---we are a multi computer family that consistantly has various computer parts to donate somewhere-----would you know where that somewhere might be?
