Snow Leopard is being released on Aug. 28th. Are you an early adopter? or are you going to wait for the first "patch" to be released? I'm still not sure...

I have not had the same issue with Time Machine but there are times when it doesn't complete a backup (for an unknown reason). Overall, the Automatic settings have worked well for me. I use a 320GB LaCie.

P.S.
By backing up manually, I mean that I tell Time Machine to back up now.

Hi all,
Thanks for starting this group. I bought an iMac about a year ago. I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with Time Machine. I'm backing up to a 320GB Simpletech USB hard drive. Sometimes Time Machine starts to backup, but never stops. The indicator light on the hard drive shows it's getting power, but it's not doing anything. If I try to look at the hard drive contents, it doesn't show all of the backups. And sometimes other programs lock up, and I have to force quit to get Time Machine to quit. Then it works normally. I've resorted to not using the automatic backup, but backing up every so often manually, then leaving the Simpletech disconnected and Time Machine off. Everything works fine then. Any ideas as to how to correct this? I haven't been able to find a discussion on the Apple website about this specific problem.

Just joined here. I'm a confirmed PC user and secret Mac admirer. Oh, and I have my stable of iPods that I love dearly and can't live without. The reason I'm joining here is that I've taken the ProTools plunge. I wonder if there are any ProTools experts here. Anyone?
