Making people and ideas findable

Choose your favorite car company. It doesn't have to be one of the big three. Would you buy a car from them if they were in the middle of restructuring?
I would.

Absolutely.

Well I should be able to get a better deal, afterall they want sales to drive their workforce and keep product flowing.

Certainly. The discounts would likely be very steep, which would offset any concerns regarding whether the company would honor the warranty. Also, the idea that parts would become unavailable is of little concern - automotive aftermarket companies never cease to amaze me. You would definitely be able to find parts for the car.

Yes. Bankrupt just means protection from creditors, not necessarily going out of business.

Just because the government bailed them out doesn't mean that they won't go bankrupt. Time will tell.

Well, yes, I would buy a car from a bankrupt car company if I believed in their product. I rep. for a GM store and also sell Fords. I am a life long believer in both companies but will be the first to admit they have made their fair share of blunders and bad marketing decisions (and just a touch of arrogance at many levels).

I get asked the question of the viability of my offering on a daily basis it seems and here is my stock reply: I will put any product made by GM or Ford up against any comparable product from any company anywhere in the world. I have not always been able to say that but I can today. I can actively show why my Chevrolet or Ford is superior to the competition. Our only fault is not getting our message out and relying instead on price, price, price. The dealers are at fault for that.

Best selling vehicles in the US for 2008? Chevrolet Silverado and Ford F-150.

Thank you Chris for not making me feel like I am the only one that argues the legality of this money being used for is ethically wrong!!!! Well, actually it is money that has no backing and will cause inflation, but those are just silly things we need to overlook.

I will not buy a vehicle because mine is paid off and I don't need debt.

Well, Steve, I am actually right there with you though the failure of any of them would probably cost me my job. I was not in favor of the financial bailout either for that matter.

The root of all of this mess is the arrogance and greed of people that were taught how to make money without any training in business ethics.

My cars are also paid off and I am glad to be debt free. Merry Christmas to you!

Dave Ramsey would be proud and have you yell " I am debt free !!!! "

Yep - I'd probably get a good deal, too!

Yes, I would. On the ancillary issues of legality, moving toward a socialist economy and ethics, business classes teach how to structure opportunity not ethics and government sets aside the law whenever it suits them. Is it socialism or nationalism that is the question. From where I live with my nose to the grindstone of my Real Estate business, JOBS are my number one concern. For the first time in 15 years, I am considering looking at alternatives to my BMW when my lease runs out. If printing and throwing new money after bad fosters inflation (very possible), then Real Estate will look even better than it does now. And by the way, I have plenty of gripes about the fourth estate pointing out the storm clouds and never the silver lining/ the tornado and never the whereabouts of the fallout shelter/ the neighborhoods that are decreasing in value and never the ones that are increasing. Whoops, I need to stop before I get into how the government bailout of the Penn Central came about because Pennsylvania lawyers (pirated) hid most of the company assets in holding companies and then cried that there was no operating income to improve the road beds.

Well Bankruptcy is something we do not want to see here in Indiana for the BIG 3. Workign with most of the Tier 1,2 and 3 suppliers to these companies I can tell you most of them are the "Creditors" in the bankruptcy and they would not get paid in some case the millions of dollars that GM and Chrysler owe them for services and parts produced so thus forcing them to close their companies and putting tens of thousands of people out of work. The once that happened GM and Chrysler are forced to find new suppliers and most likely those would be located in Toyota or Honda owned suppliers that already do the same or similar work for Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Nissan, Hyundai, etc and most of those are located down south or in Texas meaning the business and jobs and "Tax Revenue" would all leave our state. That is significant money leaving from both ends of the economic scale here (Sales and Tax revenue and individual income)

Although I do not like this situation that has been created over the past 30 years, it is what is is and we have to deal with it.
