Making people and ideas findable

Fast Company - Want to teach the kids that show up at your door on Halloween a lesson about sustainability? Greenopia recently rated 10 of the top candy manufacturers using a number of factors, including ingredient sourcing, transparency, transportation methods, and product packaging. Each of the usual suspects--Jelly Belly, Mars, Nestle, Hershey's, Pez, and Godiva--received an embarrassing zero out of four leaves on the Greenopia scale. But the four companies below received kudos for their efforts in greening the candy business.

I don't believe that these candies would be readily available and affordable for Halloween distribution. They look more like adult choices.

This report hopefully will make the main stream candy makers improve their ways but the consumer still shops what is familiar and their children like. The cost of the candy is important also when they are purchasing multiple candies for neighborhood children. Most candy companies have special pricing for main stream candy this time of year for Halloween distribution. Do these green companies mentioned in the report offer special packaging and pricing for this time of year?

I'm not serving candy at all this year. I am giving away free bowling games from Coopers Sport Bowl and Coopers Stardust Bowl as an alternative to candy! Not only will this give the kids something active to do to burn off some of the steam from eating the candy, but it will also possibly introduce them to the #1 indoor sport! :) (Oh, and the coupons are "green"... does that count?)

p.s. I can get these coupons for your business/organization too (for free!) ... just email me for info!
