Will Twitter bring you closer to God?

Most churches want them turned off, but one North Carolina church encouraged its members to use their cell phones, BlackBerrys and other devices to help spread the word during Easter services.

Next Level church in Union County was alive with Twitter during the Easter Sunday service, The Charlotte Observer reported Monday.

"I hope many of you are tweeting this morning about your experience with God," Pastor Todd Hahn said before his sermon.

Seems several flocks are twittering these days (including Trinity Church in NYC).

Imagine Fellowship (@imaginechurch) in San Antonio, TX tweets their Sunday morning service every week, along with an almost daily Bible verse. They don't tweet every word of the service, but they tweet the key points and note what music is being performed, including links to You Tube videos for the songs and links to the Bible passages on Bible Gateway. They have even offered a free Bible for Blackberry and a Bible iPhone app.

It seems as though they have one person dedicated to doing this throughout the service, it's not tweeted by the congregation. I think they even stream their service live sometimes and include links for that in their tweets. It is certainly a creative way of reaching those that don't or won't make it to the brick & mortar church on Sunday morning.

No, I'm a dinosaur. I'm lucky I can even type. But, I am thinking about writing a short story titled: "Tweety Bird Twittered that twit Sylvester".

I work a boring data entry job for the State. I'm not a "gadget" guy, so, all of these neat technolgies that keep coming out are of little interest to me. I don't even like talking on the phone. LOL I like the internet, but that's about the extent of it. I'm not saying Twitter is lame, but, it just isn't for me really. My life is too boring to tweet about:)

I can't tell you the number of times I commented that Twitter is one gigantic Dr. Seuss book in the making. The only thing I hear at the back of my head when I tweet is, "I will not like them, Sam I am. I will not like green eggs and ham."

You should give twitter a try. You conjugated the verbs masterfully in your short story title. =)
