Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

Somebody recently suggested that I join Smaller Indiana to get the word out about what I'm trying to do.

I'm in the very beginning stages of putting together Tall In Indy, a social networking core for the Tall Community of Indianapolis. I'm looking to get into Fashion for not only Tall Women, but Tall Men and Tall Children/Teens. I'm hoping to start support groups for Tall Teens to help encourage a positive self esteem for teenagers. I would also like to organize a social group for those individuals who would like to meet other Tall People in their community. I personally would like to find a group of women who share my love of shoes and the never ending search to find a pair that fits my size 12 foot.

I'm currently in the process of finding like minded people who are interested in what I'm doing that would be willing to offer input. I'm also trying to put together a group of people who would be willing to help generate ideas and help put them into the works.

How tall is tall?

Tall doesn't mean you have to be 6'0. I know there are women out there that are shorter than I am but have a much longer inseam than I do. I'm 6'2" with a 34in inseam. Imagine being 5'9 with a 36in inseam. Those legs would have to be considered tall.

Tall Club International states that Men must be at least 6'2 and women must be 5'10. I believe that to be reasonable requirements. However, I'm not one to discriminate against height. I usually tell people above average height is good enough for me ;) I'm not apart of Tall Club International. I'm not asking anyone to join to pay any kind of fees.

Down the road I may ask for donations in order to plan Events so that I can have a working budget. I've not hit that mark yet in my planning.

Welcome Ashley. I'm glad you are taking such a proactive stance to using Smaller Indiana. It will do wonders for you in the future.

Whatever you do, don't push out the petite stores/depts. Those of us on the other end of the spectrum have our own challenges! I'm more than a foot shorter than you. ;-)

Welcome welcome. I think you're going to find a really good group here.

It's just to bad I'm WAAAYYYYY up here in miserable Ft Wayne or I'd be 'around' everyone a bit more. But again, welcome.

Exactly why I am focused on Tall Fashion. There are only so many places I personally can buy a pair of jeans. The petite departments are covered. There is one Tall Store in Indianapolis. And a hand full of stores that actually carry longer inseams. However some of that stuff is either out dated or waaaaaaay over priced for the quality.

I could go on and on about the Jimmy Choos I wanted... "They don't make those in size 12" It can be really depressing sometimes... So I'm hoping to change that. But not just for me. And not just for women.

Men face the same issues.
