Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

Yesterday we sent a survey to all Smoosiers asking about your media habits. We collected over 400 responses, and some of the results are quite interesting.

For example, our local public radio station, is the most likely station to be pre-set in our car radios. This is very interesting because WFYI is certainly not the biggest sation in town, yet it beats all the big players. Interstingly, locally owned, WTTS is tied for second most popular station among Smoosiers.

54% of Smoosiers have earned 4-year college degrees, and another 13% have some college experience. Plus, 25% have Masters Degrees! Smoosiers are highly educated

40% subscribe to Indy Star, 20% subscribe to IBJ...so traditional media can't reach most Smoosiers

I don't have time this morning to write a full report, but I plan to do so. In the meantime, the full results are posted here (see attachment below). What do these data say to you?

It doesn't surprise me that Smoosiers listen to WFYI and WTTS. Particularly in the case of WTTS, you can really tell the DJs are passionate about the music. Personally, I enjoy listening to radio stations with DJs that have a strong feeling for the music they represent.
