Making people and ideas findable

So the old iPhone 3G is now $99 and the new iPhone 3GS (faster w/ video recording) is $199/299.

A bit underwhelming. I was hoping to see a re-design of the case with a front facing camera for video chat.

My original iPhone still works perfectly for me. I skipped the 3G and was planning on upgrading this time around. Now I'm considering waiting for the next one, as long as the original keeps kickin'.

So who's going for the upgrade?

I believe that this will be the time that I renew my AT&T contract with an iPhone. I am eligible in July, so this is perfect timing. I've been contemplating for a long time whether or not to get one, but now I think I will make that jump.

Any pros or cons you'd like to share about the iPhone before I make the commitment?

I may be iPhone-bias, but there aren't many real cons. If you haven't picked one up yet, $99 is a steal for this phone. I don't know how I got along with out it!

Believe me, you'll love it.

I live in an AT&T deadzone so I'd go for the new iPhone if Sprint could carry it...

What you have to remember is that it is for a NEW contract. I broke my 3Gin January and and had to pay FULL price for a new one $399-8GB/$499-16Gb, and your contract is renewed as well. Kind of lame to be honest.

Yeah, current members, are granted access to the new 16GB/32GB by paying double the price of a new user, and of course, renewing your contract for another 2 years. Bad APPLE!

No, you mean BAD AT&T!

The only con is AT&T's wacky price inconsistency. There is a lot of confusion as to who gets the subsidezed price and who doesn't.

But if you're buying an iPhone for the first time and you're getting the 3G for $99, well thats a pretty sweet deal.

I would advise people to get a case for it in case you drop it.

Actually the only con that I see is that it currently (or I should say AT &T) doesn't have tethering available yet and not everywhere around the metro area is 3G compatible which slows it down.

Tethering was a feature hat was wildly promoted...Hmm
